VM now also offer Sky Anytime content across their platform.

But remember we only got the 17 High Definition channels and the red button through a long winded Ofcom inquiry and it should have learnt Sky the error of their ways but of course Sky being Sky it did not take long for them to find ways around parts of the competition findings as we are clearly seeing now.

Whats the TiVo got to do with the availability of channels as Sky did have a chance to embrace the TiVo but due to their poor judgement failed to see the huge potential of the Tivo STB and they are the poorer for it but getting back to the point of exclusitivity l believe their channels because of their undue influence on the market should be made available to all platforms as a rule and in my opinion Film 4 HD should be available to Sky as part of this non exclusitivity and not just available to Virgin.

So the upshot is , it's ok for some companies to have exclusive deals whilst others shouldn't be allowed :td:

l don't believe in certain markets that companies should be allowed to have any exclusitivity and that includes Virgin.

But there is so not really sure why its bad when one company does it and not bad when another does it.

Given Sky's deal with ITV was signed August 2010 and the channels launched in October 2010, that should give you a good idea of when some movement might occur on VMs part (assuming it was a 2 year deal, which fits in with what the Smallworld guy was implying).

It was an example of how VM also use their market position to influence the market. S1 Tivo users would most probably still have a service had it not been for VM.

Maybe. The evidence for that is entirely circumstantial.

I have no problem with suppliers keeping certain things exclusively to themselves-if they all offered the same services then all they'd have to compete on would be price. The phrase "race to the bottom" has been heavily used in recent days, but when companies compete on price it's inevitable that quality suffers.

The fact is that Virgin and Sky primarily offer their customers different things, after all, it's not like Virgin have allowed Sky to resell their broadband, is it.

Does anyone know if Channel 4seven will be in HD from launch?
