I've stopped watching the Gadget Show, due to it obsession over crapple products.

Otis nearly orgasmed over open it.

Yet did they give as much coverage to the superior Note 8 ;)

I have just answered the door to two very official-looking gentlemen holding a large brown envelope and a warning sticker on there jacket saying video and audio asking for Mrs xxxx. I said next door (nasty neighbour)

Then I said I think you have forgotten something and they looked at me with great confusion and then I said your van is parked is parked on private ground could you please remove it.

This does annoy myself and my other 3 neighbours who own this service road and maintains it between us as when a vehicle is parked here it blocks all our driveways especially the other 3 households were not so bad. I usually don't say anything and leave this to my other neighbour but today I made a exception just because of who they were visiting as this will really annoy her that they came to my door. Although I do wonder what the old girl has been up to now. I know she is having problems with the her neighbour on the other side as he came to our door a few weeks ago asking if she did this us and the answer was Oh yes.

Since the men has visited she has been very verbal on the phone shouting at some poor sod who has had the misfortune of answering her call.

In regards to people parking on our service road, I mean is it really that hard not to see that parking here will block not only one driveway but 3 others not to mention that it's clearly private property.

Here is a picture from my living room window.

Had similar over the weekend. Workmen working next door parked their Transit half way across my drive for no apparent reason other than being lazy, inconsiderate morons. There was plenty of room to park without blocking me in but idiots like this just don't give a toss about anyone else.

The trouble with me Osem I feel bad asking them to move whereas hubby has no problem at all as he just shouts hey mate you can't park there, same as next door her hubby also has no problem at all asking someone to move.

My neighbour and I have been known to say each other I hope it gets moved before we need to go out, or we phone through to each other and ask how long it's been parked there then we moan about it, yet we still usually do nothing LOL

Good luck with that Den. :tu:

I had one (totally unnecessary I believe but hey ho...) before my surgery and the only thing which I found unpleasant was that I started to feel a bit claustrophobic after a few minutes. Mind you I'm quite a big guy so that didn't help matters...

Returning items to Amazon seems to have become such a chore. It's not ideal when the cowboy "lifestyle" courier firm they use can't be bothered turning up to collect the package then lies about you not being home.

Yes I recently took out a Prime trial and then cancelled it. Ordered a few things about half of which didn't come the next day as promised. Even though at the time of order and most of the subsequent day they were showing as being 'delivered today' they hadn't even been dispatched so I knew I wasn't going to get them. I'd guess 50% of our deliveries are left outside our porch in full view of anyone passing by and quite often they don't even ring the bell to see if we're in (and most of the timesome one is in). It's very poor really.

@ den thinking of you :hugs:

@ Osem yes I took that offer and also cancelled within the trial period. I found it quite good service tbh, everything we ordered did arrive the next day but I just could not justify the cost for our needs tbh.

Bank Of Scotland internet banking seems to be down atm. I'm on the phone to them as I type been currently waiting so far just over 15 minutes. Internet banking is good but when it's down it sure is a real pain.

I ended up cancelling the return for the second time and sending it back using a proper courier out of my own pocket which Amazon will reimburse to a point.

The reason I'm returning this item is because it should have had three separate components but Amazon logistics (whoever they are on any given day of the week) only delivered one of them. It's not even Christmas yet. If they can't manage to fulfil a simple delivery now God only knows how bad it's going to be in a couple of weeks time. They really have gone down the pan.

I've had Prime for 2 years now, and I've bought a load from them (about £3,000).

But been buying for 10 years, in that time I've had 1 wrong item which was sorted without issue, and one not received, but this was around Christmas.

Since Prime I have only had 1 item not delivered next day and that was my most recent order, but it turned up the day after.

TBH I only got Prime for The Grand Tour. Next day delivery was a bonus.

Den has your Auntie got family around/near her that will be able to help her when she gets out of hospital? Also remember and get someone to contact the council/social work for any aids and services that your Aunt may require or need or even better speak to the hospital and see if they can arrange this when the time comes for your Auntie getting home.

I wish I had knew about the help that was available at the start of my late Mother's illness and to be honest I still struggle with the fact that my poor Mum could have many of the services and help that she so clearly needed from day one instead of struggling for so long, example we purchased a stair lift only to find out that the council would have provided this service for my Mother.

I suppose it's the same old same old if you know the system then it's easy. I'm still to this day at a loss as why these services are not more advertised to those that truly need it.

Take care den :hugs:

To keep continuing to try and cause someone harm, sadness and interfere in there life via a 3rd party is just so totally wrong in my book, especially when that 3rd party is a complete idiot and couldn't see the truth or facts if they were slapped across the face with them.

In all honestly I do not know who to pity the most or even if they actually deserve my pity at all.

Re: Moans and Pet Hates part 8

Not a good day yesterday had a bump in my car and what makes this worse is it was totally my fault :( although my eldest has given me lecture that I should never have admitted this.

First ever accident in 29 years of driving and I think I handled it quite well as the lady was naturally very annoyed that I ran into her hubby's Jaguar and kept saying he was going to be really angry with her. I just said look no one seems to be hurt, please go and check your children as I have checked mine then we can discuss matters in which we did.

I just feel like such an idiot and tbh I really did not get a good sleep last night and this morning I was very wary driving so I guess I'm a bit shook up with it all.

I have protected no claims so that is fine but I'm dreading how much this will bump up my insurance next year and could I go to another insurer if it's a massive amount.

Quite true: Normally when nobody admits then both insurers pay for the damage on a knock-for-knock basis. If somebody admits blame, or it is decided in court, then the blamee's (is that a word?) insurers have to pay for all the damage.

nashville 22-11-2017 12:01

Sorry about your bump Weenie, but no one hurt is the main thing,

weenie 22-11-2017 12:39

Re: Moans and Pet Hates part 8

There really was no point denying it heero as it was totally my fault. At the end of the day it was I who pulled out of a junction, and as far I'm aware she was not speeding.

The way I see it is I quickly defused a very unfortunate situation as I suspect by admitting fault she became more at ease as I suspect things could have escalated by the way she got out her car as her voice was slightly raised and I can understand that but at the end of the day it's only a car and no one was hurt and imo that was the most important thing, saying that one can only hope that she does not try and claim whip lash as this really would be silly on her part giving the speed that our cars collided.

On a plus side I can confirm that my auto braking works although naturally I would have much preferred not to have fond this out.

At the moment my insurance is arranging for my car to be booked into Mitchell Inglis in Glasgow in where they will come and pick my car up and deliver back once the repairs are complete, also my insurance has also arranged for me to have a car from Enterprise Car Rental.

I must say I'm really impressed with the whole process of my claim so far, as I have never claimed before and I really did not know what to expect.

@ Nash thank you

Re: Moans and Pet Hates part 8

It can be really straight forward weenie. Glad to hear you are OK.

I know that you shouldn't admit liability but not doing so when there could be no other explanation is hard. Be very upfront with your insurers, and I am sure that they will not penalise you for just being honest. A guy drove straight into the back of us when we were stopped at traffic lights. He too admitted liability and we were surprised by how quickly the claim was resolved by his insurers, I guess because there no counter arguments to delay things. You Have no claims discount but if your insurance is a lot higher next year then stand by to gasp out loud when you see the results of quotes from other insures. :(

Does anyone know if my insurance will replace the plastic bumper as I'm being told by some family members that they won't replace it because it just has a few scrapes but what they will do more than likely is do a respray + fix/replace where needed therefore surely that means they will replace the black plastic bumper due to the deep scores that is now on it, plus it's plastic how would they go about fixing that without replacing it

Surely they will replace this as my car was immaculate before I decided to have a crash, what I thought would happen is any damage as a result of the accident would be repaired or is that not the case advice please as I don't want to keep phoning my insurance company as I do get quite nervous and I don't want to ask hubby as he is currently on the road driving.

To be honest with everyone, I'm really hoping that they will replace the bumper as it was damaged in the crash. I'm really down at the moment and kicking myself for not concentrating.

I just want my car back to what it was before the crash, here is photos that was taken just after my accident.

Any advice would be TRULY appreciated...

Highly annoying I know, especially when it's a new car but the main thing is that nobody is hurt. I'm sure the insurance company will sort it out but if you're at all worried give them a call and ask what their policy or repair v. replace is. :tu:

If it's done well I doubt you'll be able to tell a repair has been done. ;)

If the plastic bumper is holed or cracked it will be only viable to replace it with a new bumper.

weenie 24-11-2017 09:04

Re: Moans and Pet Hates part 8

I bit the bullet and phoned them and I'm quite happy with what they have said basically any damage that occurred during the accident will be fixed and my car should look once again like new.

That has settled my mind now the only thing is they cannot guarantee that my car will be back for our couple of days away on Sunday the 3rd but will do there best, if not we will just take the hire car or hubby's.

Thanks everyone who replied.

Just a quick update to advise we have a bumper and arch moulding ordered for your vehicle and we will in touch with timescales when they arrive. Kind regards Mitchell inglis.

Hopefully we will get the car back for us going away on Sunday as there is no way I could travel any length of time in the hired car that my insurance company has arranged nor do I fancy traveling in hubby's car either.

I have a feeling that you may be a tad optimistic on getting the car back that quickly. I had a wing mirror housing replaced and that took over a week.

Sorry to hear that Den. This is not a good time of year to lose your job. Will he get some redundancy pay?

Some of the moans in this thread makes my own moans seem really really trivial. Let's just hope that 2018 is a much better year for all of us. This year has sucked.

What!

I had a clip on my Mondeo that damaged the front right wing, bumper and smashed the headlight.

I got it back within 2 days.

Just clicked on dl repair status and my car should be ready on Thursday :) now that is what I call fantastic service.

There was a slight hiccup with the tracking service but that was sorted fairly quickly once it was brought to the garages attention the reg had a wrong letter in it, Y instead of a K.

That really is quite disgusting den but sadly this does not surprise me at all in this day and age.

I remember a few years ago a jewelry shop closed down and the poor staff turned up for work only to find that there place of work was no more and the shop empty they had no idea what was going on, I personally found this disgusting also.

I hope your brother finds employment soon den.

End of the second day without a boiler (condenser).

British Gas boiler engineer came out this morning (pleased with the speedy response), investigated, and believed it was an electrical fault. He called Despatch, and asked for an engineer, and was given a date of 21st December - he was very good, and convinced Despatch to escalate, and they got an on-call (not BG) electrician who has just left.

It’s (apparently) not an electrical problem, but an issue with the pump in the airing cupboard upstairs, which needs a heating engineer (apparently different from a boiler engineer) - he’s called it in, and I should be getting a call in the morning informing me what happens next...

Luckily we have a gas fire in the lounge, and an immersion heater we can use for hot water.

Here’s hoping for a speedy resolution to this issue.

Modern boilers seem to be crap. My sons constantly breaks down; however he's renting and it's the landlord who constantly has to fix.
Mine is circa 1979, has never broken down (touch wood !).
Forget BG Hugh, they will just say they don't have the parts, and try and flog you another boiler. Get a local independent trader to have a look, nothing lost. A pump should be simple to replace.

Hugh 04-12-2017 20:12

Re: Moans and Pet Hates part 8

I have a Service Agreement, which covers all costs (including replacement).

tbf, the boiler is 10 years old and it’s the first problem we’ve had with it ( we did get it fitted by a local independent, just use BG for the Service Agreement) and it’s probably the pump in the airing cupboard, which is 33 years old...

Yes, which isn't going to help you with the cold snap coming this weekend. If it was me I'd pay someone to fix it, be warm, and claim the money off BG (mention Watchdog ! ).

Now fixed by BG.

Not true.
BG have never let me down, and always repaired (or replaced) any parts.

My 20+ year old heating pump failed a couple of months ago and they were out the next day to fix it - replaced with a shiny new one.

The M25 J27/M11 J6.

Yesterday my 25 minute journey home became 2.5 hours of hell.

A crash on the M25 backed traffic 3 miles past M11 J7 which is six miles away.

traffic on the roundabout just ignored red light and blocked people trying to leave the motorway.

Then the back road I could have taken was closed, so I had to do an additional 10 miles to get home going away from my home.

Don't get me started on the last second lane jumpers.

We've been told plenty of things over the years. Maybe they'll get rid of the Pacers when the electrify the line but more likely they won't.

See above!!!

If I was a cynic I'd wonder if the powers that be have realised that if a day in Manchester isn't bad enough they can make it even worse by using Pacers. I was actually scared on the way back - thought we were leaving the track a couple of times!!

LOL

This morning my GP said that she was going to arrange for me to have a upper GI endoscopy and she would be requesting sedation which I must say I'm glad that she is requesting sedation for me.

I have never had a upper GI scope but I would assume very little prep is needed for this, not like a colonoscopy in where you need to drink that awful laxative stuff called moviprep

I honestly think the moviprep was the worst part of the colonoscopy.

What a great idea and tip Tinky and I will definitely do that next time as I have been informed that I will need this test done every so often.

If you don't mind me asking Tinky have you ever had a upper GI scope and if so what was it like?

I've had one - without sedation and it wasn't that bad to be honest. It was a few years ago now but from memory I'm pretty sure it was 12 hours or so fasting before hand. I chose to have the industrial strength Vicks Chloraseptic throat spray as I had to be somewhere later that day and couldn't be groggy after the sedation.

The only negative thing was I had a bit of a sore throat for a day or two (have had worse when full of cold) and when they took the biopsy was a strange feeling (but if they do a biopsy and you're snoozing you'll not notice).

And one last thing - I'm a typical wimpy bloke so if I can do it you'll have no problem!!

Hope this helps.

Cheers

Dave

Thank you Dave the trouble I'm having is horrid bitter taste in my mouth when I wake up, I'm experiencing choking and being sick when eating, heart burn and pains in my chest area.

On Friday I was sent to my local ENT department in where they put a tube thing up my nose and down my throat in where it came back that my throat is very narrow and has lots of inflammation, I suspect this is why my GP has requested sedation.

I must say I was shocked when my GP called me this morning as I did not expect her to get Friday's results so quickly.

I've had it a few times with and without sedation. And I much preferred the sedation. The spray works but the worse sensation is that you don't feel yourself swallowing which was tough going. I've had it done straight after a colonoscopy which was the better time as they give you more sedation than if you're just having the gastroscopy on its own. From what I can remember the last time I had it done it was with about 5mg of Diazepam or equivalent but they also give you the spray as well. Hope it goes okay anyway. Takes around 10-20 mins all in and it is different for everyone obviously so some can tolerate it and some struggle with them. When you're there having it done you'll get through it but the fear of the unknown is always the worse.
