Re: *All* ntl 10meg Discussion (part 2)
Just a note to anyone in the glasgow area.
You should be able to upgrade to the 10Mb from ntl.com as i've just done so,i was on 2Mb and upgraded tonight about 9.30pm. But i'm only getting about 4Mb(4092kbs) I'm guessing that this is because of people that have upgraded in my area are testing thier connections about now,if my speed is still the same tomorrow i'm going to give cs a call to see if they can help. |

Got 10Mb in Horndean, near Portsmouth. Upgraded from 2Mb to 10Mb about an hour ago. Worked within a minute of me pressing the button. No modem reboot, modem is behind a router. See attached screenshot from DU Meter.

Re: *All* ntl 10meg Discussion (part 2)
got a feeling that the Samsung STB's can handle 10meg.
I was on a trial software beta thingy ages ago and i asked one of the programming guys what the differance was between a pace and a samsung. He said basically the samsung has 2 processors, one compleatly seperate for the cable modem allowing faster speeds without effecting the tv. And also can you really see NTL spending a fortune upgrading all the 2 and 3 meg users to samsungs then 6 months later making them useless? To be honest if the samsungs didnt take 10 meg im guessing they would have upped the speed to something the samsung could support rather than replacing them all again!. |

Are any of your peeps with RUBBISH (i.e. below 10Mb) downloads using wireless networking? I used to have it, and found that the real-world connection speed was about a third of what Windows reports. You'll have to get the Black and Decker out an a reel of cable to join us posh folks with big fat wide proper broadband connections.
If I upset everyone then put a smile at the end does that make it OK? Not quite learnt this netiquette thing yet. :) |
