christ we're scrapping the barrel here arent we with channel launches!

I would not think the hard working boys and girls in the Forces will think a forces channel launching will be "scraping the barrel."

Even if a one hour looping advert means more people enlist and make the jobs of the current service personnel slightly "easier", I am sure they will be pleased VM are "scraping the barrel."

Rant over.

Is there any point in sky keeping sky 3D and sky one +1 and pick+1 and so on exclusive. Just can't see people signing up now just to watch sky 3d or pick +1. Is sky 3D on basic deal or is on another pack?

Do anyone know if VM are still trying to incorporate Netflix into their TV packages?

Would be great if there were still trying to broker a wholesale deal.

Not that i know off but there is talk about more services coming such as Amazon prime so maybe VM will strike a deal once they have other providers onboard.

Yes, a collections package including a number of streaming services would be good. I would expect the additional material of the ITV Player that we don't currently get to be part of that.

At no point did I criticise the "hard working boys and girls in the forces" so please do not try and twist my words harry. I don't know why you inserted that in over a point about the merits of a channel.

A one hour looping advert for one hour a day is scrapping the barrel in terms of being an appropriate channel as far as I'm concerned. If that's what the channel will be. We don't know yet.

"I'm not wanting to join the army...hang on a 1 hour looping advert... I'll join the army".

I have respect for our military friends so please don't try to suggest otherwise by your wording. I don't have respect for pointless channels which no one will ever find or watch

Scrapping barrels can be quite lucrative... :)

Ha! Gary Neville. Right up the Gary Neville.

Did you ever read "The Secret Diary of Gary Neville, aged 29 and 3/4?

It is here (http://vgd.no/sport/fotball-premier-.../tema/589529//) and even though it is very old, it still makes me laugh.

Well said Vince.

He has described previous similar behaviour as "bringing spirit to the forum" and "putting forward an opposing point of view" in the past. Make of that what you will...

 to the Gary Neville reference:)

At no point did I say you were criticizing the forces or their personnel. Quite how I have twisted your words evades me, perhaps you can explain how I have?

I just feel that those in the services will find the channel useful and will not think VM are "scraping the barrel."

You have every right to think VM are scraping the barrel, but I don't think they are and I am sure all the serving personnel, ex-personnel and their families wont think so either. I am happy to be corrected on this point.

You are right, we don't know what the channel will be yet, so I can not figure out why you would criticize it before it's launch.

I struggle to see how a channel aimed at helping boost morale or figures in the armed forces can be classed as pointless though.

"Hm, I am not sure if I want to join the Army. I know, before I make an appointment at my local recruitment centre and waste their time, I will just watch this handy one hour video to see if it helps make my mind up first. If it does not I can still go down the recruitment centre after anyway"

I have no major problems with you thinking the channel is scraping the barrel, I just think many people will not think it is scraping the barrel.

I am happy to agree to disagree if you are?

Handsome Regards

Harry Redknapp

Indeed "where there's muck, there's brass" is an old Yorkshire Saying :D

And where there's brass, there's metal. Which is why it's far more lucrative to be scrapping barrels than scraping them. :D

Does anyone have a 4K tele?

I was looking at them in the shop yesterday....and yes the picture does look amazing.

Will VM be pioneers, or do you think they will just secure 4K content as it comes available from third parties..e.g Sky?

Just curious on everyone's thoughts on the new technology and the part VM plays.

I've got money burning a hole in my pocket for a 4K TV. However it can keep burning until HDMI 2.0 is ratified and included in a new TV rather than promised as a later add-on, even if it's free.

If 4K is going to have acceptable refresh rates, we'll also need a new generation of boxes with HDMI 2.0 too. So VM I would predict a whole new VIP++ tier where people are willing to pay not only for the content, but a new TiVo model too. This would have to be cloud-based as no hard drive in the world would be big enough. :D

I will also be holding off to buy a 4K tv until the problems have been ironed out :)

VM must be thinking about the things you have higlighted though or they may get left behind :td:
