It would be more credible if they used a named source. "A person familiar with the situation" could be anyone. It could be someone at BT, it could be someone at Virgin Media or it could simply be someone at Reuters who has been following events unfold in the past month or so.

Just a thought... Could with all these HD channels moving up the EPG be in preparation for a HD swap?

If BT Sports is launching on Virgin Media, surely it would need to be before Saturday? If not how would Virgin cope with the demand? I assume if you want to add the channel you'd need to give Virgin a call to add BT Sports to your package. How many Virgin customers would be lifting the phone, trying to get access to the channels, before Liverpool Vs. Stoke kicks off at 12:45pm? Surely the numbers would be huge.

Whilst none of our Virgin insiders can confirm if they know a deal has been done or not, have Virgin arranged for more staff than usual to be available from Friday night through to Sunday? Overtime to man the phones. If this can be confirmed, we'll be able to read between the lines and fill in the blanks ;)

As of August 12th I have seen no new update since August 7th on BT Sports on Virgin Media.

Not when SKY are offering crazy deals to keep you. SKY have been offering 50% and 75% off for a full year if you re-contract! Just to clarify, that's if you call asking to cancel your services.

To be fair, you can add and remove Sky Sports by going through an automated system and without having to speak to a call centre agent, so if Bt was the same then there shouldn't be too much pressure.
