Just had a random thought, you dont suppose a somebody who started a lot of random threads the other day is an illegal in the sense of cable TV do you?

Re: All Chipped Cable Boxes Going Down
hmmm, yes one would think that the op was infact stealing cable services seeing as he hasn't even come back to defend himself:(

I am so happy that all of this modified equipment will be off our network shortly and that means less noise and problems. With the additional work being carried out at this time on modem security we should soon have a network that is 99% safe from the noob who buys his kit at a computer fair or down the pub. 99% of the toe rags who come on this forum and brag every month or so have no real knowledge about the hacks that there equipment has been using. So when something like this comes along that makes there hacks unusable they are lost and have to wait for someone else to spoon-feed them the info. The reality this time is that there is no hack for Nagra 3 so the noobs are not going to be spoon feed info and will have 2 choices in the end. Pay for it or watch a blank screen. Its as simple as that Now you can bet your bottom dollar some so called hacker  will come on here and spout a load of bull excreta, however no amount of bull will give them there channels back and for that i thank VM . |

Couldn't agree more sir, well said.

Re: All Chipped Cable Boxes Going Down
Only one way to get around it which I'm sure you're aware of. That seems to be turning into quite a cottage industry too.
Without that system, which involved paying a 3rd party, it's not likely to progress. Virgin's encryption isn't even the same Nagra 3 that is present elsewhere it's actually a custom version, different hardware and silicon in the cards so even a break of the standard version wouldn't necessary give a solution to VM's Nagra. |
Re: All Chipped Cable Boxes Going Down
Call me a cynic but this encryption is bound to be cracked eventually, there is always going to be some clever git that will release something that works.
I have heard rumours of a crack already but they are 'holding it back until all head ends are upgraded'. Personally I think they were talking rubbish but you never know... PS. Yes I am a paying customer :p |

Re: All Chipped Cable Boxes Going Down
True, no security system is 100% secure.
But, while it is uncracked, even if temporarily, that means more money for VM, and hopefully fewer problems for other customers (fewer shoddy installs = less interference on the network) Hopefully, it'll stay uncracked long enough for Nagravision 4 to be developed... |
