Took off from Melbourne over 14 hours ago, and there is fog in Dubai, so we will be in a holding pattern for at least an hour.

If these keeps up, we could be up here all morning... :D

Sorry weenie.

And mine is finding out that despite what I was told to my face, someone at work HAS been insulting me behind my back. I am seriously close now to just handing my notice in and telling them where they can put the job. I can only take so much more before I snap completely at them.

weenie 28-09-2017 09:56

Re: Moans and Pet Hates part 8

Thanks Mark.

Mark if your thinking about handing in your notice remember it is easier to find a job when your in employment. I would think that you have a very good reason if you were asked at a interview reasons for leaving since your on a zero hour contract you could say you need job security any employer knows how important this is especially in this day and age. Maybe this link will help you with the do's and don'ts on handing your notice should you feel this is your only option.

Trust me, nothing would give me greater satisfaction than winning the Euromillions and quitting the next day. I've already told them I will be doing that anyway.

If you resign, you won't get Jobseekers Allowance (to the best of my knowledge).

denphone 29-09-2017 06:21

Re: Moans and Pet Hates part 8

A Jobcentre sanction of 1 to 3 months is possible as well if the lottery dream does not come true as my sister quit her job for very good reasons and was sanctioned accordingly.

Top tip, find another job, then resign.
Many seem to get that the wrong way round.

When you realise you've become accustomed to stupid prices, when after a Dubai brunch, you're really pleased that the happy hour prices for a bottle of beer are only £8 per 330ml bottle...

I would only quit if I had another job to walk into, or I had the means to support myself financially without needing benefits. Been looking today for a new job.

I hope a permanent solution is sorted out for you soon. In the meantime hopefully the taxis will be a tad more reliable than the the old transport company. Fingers crossed for you.

I feel your pain.

I remember they I left for work and knew he wouldn't be coming home from the vets that day.

I worked in a warehouse and we packed parcels and had a sheet we used and they were labelled a to z, The last one I filled was K9 :(.

Then went home to a crying mum and sister :(

I'm sure you'll make good use of what time you have. The doctors gave my old man only a couple of months when they discovered tumours had spread to his liver and lungs but he actually lasted 9 months, most of which he spent at home, functioning normally and in very little pain. The brain's a different matter of course and without knowing what state she's in now it's hard to know how much she's suffering. We were lucky in that regard. Hope you are too.

Not the kind of news anyone wants to hear Mark. I am sure that you will do your very best to make the most of the time you have left with her count. Spoil her and try to create happy memories that you can draw upon in the coming days and months.

You know that we will be here for you whenever you need to vent or have a shoulder to lean on sweetie.

Mark I honestly cannot express just how sorry I am to hear this. It is never nice nor easy knowing that were going to loose someone who means the absolute world to us.

Re: Moans and Pet Hates part 8

Mark your Nan would not want that now come on think about this. Your Nan loves you with all her heart and the one thing that your Nan would want is for you to carry on making her proud and you know that she is very proud of you. Mark your posts show how much you care and love your Nan just as she does you.

I know it is hard at the moment and believe me if I could I would take all the hurt, confusion and sadness away I would without a second though but unfortunately I can't.

My advice is speak to someone get the answers you need and the help your Nan is entitled too.

Macmillan Support Line 0808 808 00 00

If you prefer Marie Curie offers online chat.

My heart is breaking for you Mark :hugs: I found both these charities amazing but who helped me the most was Marie Curie but that is just me.

Don't be too proud to ask for support Mark.

Re: Moans and Pet Hates part 8

If was not for both of these amazing charities I would have been lost tbh Mark.

I found MacMillan to be very useful for booklets etc I gave a donation but you don't need to.

In regards to Marie Curie I would have been totally lost without them, also my Mum would not have been granted her final wish and that was to pass away at home.

Marie Curie made this possible and for that I will be forever grateful and will for the rest of my life support them for example you can buy an hour of care at £20.00 or Marie Curie Daffodil Pin Badge at £2.00.

Mark I really recommend that you phone both of these charities and if for any reason they can't talk they will phone you back.

Does anyone know if i will have to pay to get this fixed or is it something they will do for free? I am assuming it will cost me maybe £50.

This may get fixed today as i have a VM guy around to fix the pixelating channels on the Tivo and hopefully he can repair the phone line too.

I didn't phone up as it is far less stressful just to post on their forum, i had to wait 5 days for a reply but by doing that i could easily agree which day i wanted the visit on.

I am going to have a moan, the woman in the next back green from us ( we have no fence as it collapsed years ago and council never renewed it) has been watching her daughters dog for months, she allowed it to run in our back green and do its duties without lifting it up. I went to her door and told her about it and she apologised , the next week it happened again, I went to the council who went to her door and gave her a warning, It stopped for a while now the same thing happen last week , I asked her to take the dog out on the lead and then she would see where it was happening, another apology , Last Thursday same thing, This has been reported to the council again, Must be someone else I can report this too as she obvious is not bothering to obey the rules, or listen to me or the Southlanarkshire Council ,

weenie 07-10-2017 19:32

Re: Moans and Pet Hates part 8

Nash you could try Environmental Services @ South Lanarkshire, here is a link.

https://www.southlanarkshire.gov.uk/...ental_services

If anybody sees a dog owner who doesn't clean up after his or her dog and they can identify them, they should report this to Environmental Health or the Police. The Dog Fouling (Scotland) Act 2003 has made it an offence not to clean up after your dog in any public place, with a fixed penalty of £80.

I suspect the police could get out this by saying this is civil matter due to it not being on public land, but saying that you could also try them but I reckon the police would only do something if this was a public area.

If I were you I would phone Environmental Services at South Lanarkshire Council.

It really is very strange in a house with out your dog, I knew I would miss him but it's really lonely here without him. I miss everything about having him the walks, meeting people while walking him and just the general chat's that I used to have with my fellow dog walkers.

It was just so sudden and I'm still questioning the what if's and did I miss anything, could I have did more, don't get me wrong I know we could not have and we did everything we could but it's just so horrible having these feelings.

What I can say I never realised is just how much time our Keane took up and the social life he actually gave me.

Don't think so Nash, I used to say that I would eventually get a rescued or retired Grey hound but just don't think I will or could Nash tbh.

Yes the house is very empty without him now nash especially during the day. It's the little things I miss example sharing the morning biscuits with him as I still find myself taking two out the biscuit tin.

My only advice is not to put any pressure on yourself as everyone will grieve differently for your Nan. There is no right or wrong way, just what is right for you.

Sorry to hear this but I'm sure she wouldn't be wanting you to hurt. Her suffering has ended now and in time you'll be able to think about all the happy times without the pain you now feel. It's really important to offload at times like this so I hope you'll feel able to do this as it's a vital part of the healing process.

It's my eldest son's birthday today and his birthday cards have not arrived despite ordering them from a well known online site for personalised birthday cards. I'm not too pleased let me tell you as I ordered them on Thursday.

Although he does not seem bothered as he still got his birthday money but I would have much preferred to put this in a card rather than hand it to him.

Yesterday would have been my Mum's wedding anniversary so my boy's and I bought a wreath and today when I went up to visit my Mum's grave the rabbits had eaten most of the flowers off it.

My eldest did give me a laugh when I was complaining about having to put the wreath in the bin, and how it never even lasted a day, then out the blue he said do you think they knew they were having a gourmet meal.

Hubby got letter from HM Revenue & Customs and it was not a very nice letter Tax calculation for the year April 2016 to 5 April 2017. You have paid too little tax. You owe HMRC £xxx.xx

Hubby's work put the wrong tax code in, at least we don't have to pay it in the one go :) it will just get taking from his wages which is good.

HMRC can be quite accommodating when genuine errors are involved. Just never cross them.

Idiots who crash on motorways.

My journey to work take 25-30 mins.

Well on monday thanks to some idiots it took 2-1/2 hours, so myself and several other arrived late.

Luckily we won't be docked wages.

But what annoys me is the amout of lane 2 & 3 hoggers there are, then there are those who don't have any lights on around sunrise/sunset.

Works Ok here what is your platform running on XP, windows 7/8/10.

Have you got CCleaner by Piriform. If not download the free version and then run the registry (2nd icon down) see if you have any issues. Then run the cleaner as well.

Then (TAKING NOTE your passwords and all your settings in the User CP try uninstalling and reinstall Cable Forum.

Yes they seem to be heero and tbh we could pay it if they requested the full amount but in the letter they have stated that they will automatically collect the tax by increasing the tax deducted from hubby's wages, salary or pension, usually in equal instalments for 12 months from next April.

This suits us as being Scottish were quite miserable when it comes to our savings ;) in fact I personally hate taken money from our rainy day fund and usually detest being in debt to anyone or anyone thing but this I don't mind owning or paying.

I personally think this is fair system due the fact that it was hubby's fault but as you say just never cross them :)

My mum came to visit us, then moved on to see my dad's sister. While she was there she got a message that some local <beep>s had smashed in a back window and been through her bedroom. Her most expensive jewelry was with her but they may have stolen dad's gold watch and worse her camera with lots of pictures on from last holidays with Dad.

She is going back home today to see what's what and to get a VM upgrade. Not a good year losing dad, a grandson and now this.

We had a man-with-a-van in this morning to take stuff from my late mothers house to the auction house and the dump including some big pictures that my parents had that I or my sisters don't want. Then we had to do dump run on our own with another dismantled bit of chipboard unit. Putting the wood in the skip we saw the pictures in there. So sad it's heart wrenching.:cry::cry:

Oh heero my heart is breaking for you and your sisters just remember the important things to keep are your memories that is how I carry on.

Although I will freely admit that one of my most treasured possession is my late Mothers perfume bottle that I rescued from a rubbish bag and every now and then I take it from my dressing table and just smell it.

Take care heero :hugs:

I know the feeling, in some ways clearing out all my Nan's stuff felt like I was doing something I shouldn't. But we are nearly there, still got a couple of rooms to go though. Then the rigmarole of selling up.

Thanks :tu:

Me and my older sister managed to break the final back of it this week with 5 runs to the dump, man-and-van (sob) and finally a removals van/trailer to get the decent stuff to our houses. She did forget about one glory hole with a selection of fur coats in it. I left that to her.

Mind you our place looks like a bomb just hit it. It took three crates and several shopping bags just to empty the fridge/freezer and food cabinets. A king size bed has taken over two rooms and my car is still half loaded.

Maybe it's the impetus we need to have a de-cluttering session.

Just a final vac over, last few things and hand over the keys. My sister will do this next week.

Now need to sort through things, remove duplicates and get yet more stuff down to re-cycling

People who use the last of something and never think of replacing it, sometimes I think my lot think a wee magic fairy comes in and does this. Another pet hate of mine is when someone puts a empty milk bottle back in the fridge

Take today for example I have replaced the soap and bubble bath in the bathroom and the kitchen roll in the kitchen.

---------- Post added at 21:53 ---------- Previous post was at 20:12 ----------

Warning I'm having a rant.

Today I had lunch with my Dad this date was arranged last week.

The day was going well until he asked if I could take him to Dobbies garden center for a tree and I did this no problem once there I quite innocently asked where are you planting it Dad, in where he said I'm not your sister asked me to get it for her. Apparently he mentioned that we were going for lunch and going to a few garden centers then he openly said to me I was hoping you wouldn't ask that question.

Then I just said Dad how are you going to get it to her house and he said I'm not she is going to pick it up from mine then I said and how is it getting to your house he said via your car at this point I just laughed and said no way am I going to transport a tree for her in my new car and to be honest Dad I think the pair of you have a dam cheek expecting me transport a tree for her giving the fact that both of you know I want nothing to do with her and what makes it worse is the very underhanded way you both went about this.

I do think it is ironic that my sister and my Dad just a couple of months ago were having a pop at how there was no need for me to purchase such a big car blah blah blah and how I waste money, yet now that so called big car comes in handy. Oh it's such pity she will never know just how handy it is having such a vehicle.

The day's of me being used by them or should I say allowing myself to be used seem to be long gone I'm very proud to say!

I must say that I'm quite shocked as my Dad has just phoned and said how sorry he was but he did not see a problem and thought I wouldn't mind doing them this favour but with hindsight he can see that both of them should have asked if I was ok with this.

I don't think my father has ever said sorry in his entire life so I'm actually sitting here in complete shock. Hubby said it's because he is worried about his shopping tomorrow and tbh I don't really care the reason he apologised it's the fact that he admitted they should have asked and not expected.

You're talking kids and partners aren't you... ;)

As regards making difficult decisions, I've decided that Osem Jnr # 2 will have to go into full time care when he finishes college. It's not that I don;t love him, it's because I've finally accepted that I/we can't look after him forever. We need our own lives and the sad truth is that we can't have that and be full time carers for him. It breaks my heart to admit it after all these years but I have done and nothing will change my mind now. :(

weenie 09-11-2017 09:37

Re: Moans and Pet Hates part 8

Osem your posts about both your sons screams out just how much you love them and trust me this can be clearly seen by all.

I can only imagine the heart break at having to make such a difficult decision and it must be a catch 22. What do you for the best do you wait until you can no longer care for your son in where Osem Jnr #2 could be emotionally traumatised by losing everything at once and all that is familiar to him without you being there to offer your continued support, or do you do accept what is best for all.

Osem don't beat yourself up about this as you can still give emotional support.

Everyone concerned in Osem Jnr #2 life needs the peace of mind that he will be settled and content in full time care and I think you have made a very difficult decision out of love for your son.

Take care :ghugs:

Our twins are now 26, and I find myself spending so much of my time repeating instructions to get them to fend for themselves more and more. Some things they pick up after a while, but other skills seem beyond them. We are their full time carers as there are no other options available since all the cuts for austerity by HMG and councils. :(
