Confirmation class four tonight. Group tomorrow. Things are on the whole quite good :) - I see some stuff with a clarity than I used to (ironically enough ;)).

I believe this quote sums it up :-

Once I knew only darkness and stillness. My life was without past or future. But a little word from the fingers of another fell into my hand that clutched at emptiness and my heart leaped to the rapture of living.

Why are you off to Georgia?

Have just secured good seats (no free chamagne :( ) to a home match of a double-header with Cardiff. Worth every penny to hear the Cardiff fans sing their anthem. They are great fans - no trouble just friendly, and friendly banter.

The thing that annoyed me with the BA lounge was the sheer amount of distance you had to travel to get to them - down a set of stairs - along a corridor, up a set of stairs... escalators... and then finally....

Got myself a shiny new toy to play with last night.

One of the new Apple TV's.

Got home, unpacked it. Five minutes later, it was plugged in to the TV (just had to nick an HDMI from something else), connected to the network and playing both my own videos and Netflix on the big screen. Not to mention the fact that a suprisingly high number of the apps I have on my iPhone can route their output to the Apple TV via Airplay.

Might actually start making use of that Netflix membership I created a couple of months ago now.

I actually joined with the full intention of making regular use of it, but I only had access to it on my iPhone, Laptop and Desktop PC. The iPhone and laptop have screens that are really too small for watching a movie on. The Desktop has a 22inch Monitor, which is good for viewing movies on, but sometimes I just want to kick back and relax. The larger screen helps.

Set it up so it goes to the US version of Netflix. Far Far more content than UK.

Score again!!

About to fly back from Atlanta to Heathrow, and good old BA have upgraded my wife and I again to Business Class. :D

Atlanta BA Terraces Lounge isn't a patch on Heathrow T5 lounge, but it's better than a kick in the nadgers...;)

(just worked out why - I used to be a BA Gold Card member in the 90's and 00's, when I used travel a lot and someone else paid; when I stopped travelling as much, I told them I was using Virgin Atlantic instead, and this is the first time I have flown long-haul with them since.

They must be trying to get my business back....)

Just been unpacking, and found a notice from the TSA (Transport Security Administration) in it (see below) - the lock was broken, but they had re-secured the bag with some strong twine instead.

Best news is that the iPad3 and the litre bottle of Macallan Special Oak were still there, along with the dirty washing and stuff I had bought from Banana Republic...:D

I never lock my cases they are in my hands and then the handlers - IF they really want to check my dirty washing then they're welcome to it. Be nice it they laundered it and gave it back to me. :D I know I have nothing to hide. They could also slip me some JD if they liked :D

The trouble there is that anybody can open it and your insurance is invalid.

I bought a TSA approved combi lock that has a TSA keay at the bottom, if the lock is opened and relock I don't know.

Nuts indeed, I wouldn't wish anything on them and indeed hope that when they are in trouble no one is pathetic enough to try and make a tough situation worse by using antics such as they have on you.

A Happy Easter to you as well, I hope you have a restful break Maggy and that you don't get snowed in.

1614, that's fantastic.

My paternal tree was traced back to the late 1600s but then came to a blank wall in France. I only got back to the mid 1800s on the maternal side, a Jones marrying a Jones in Wales sure makes it harder to trace the correct records. :D So much easier when unusual surnames are involved.

The truth is always out there. Mandatory registration in France began in the 1790s but you may get back to the C17th or possibly as early as the C14th from parish registers if you're lucky (and if your ancestors didn't move around a lot). Your Jones will be tricky but by no means impossible :) I've found all kinds on my mam's: bigamists, vagabonds, drunken Irishmen locked up in Strangeways and three bishops :D

Haven't done much on my dad's side as I'll have to go to Warsaw and probably Kiev to rifle through the records bearing in mind where he came from and the fact that I have an unusual Ukrainian name. I've been in touch with a Ukrainian historian and she said it originates from a distinct cultural group along the Desna river on the NE border in the dark age period.

We have a few Black Sheep in the family as well. :D My late father was the main researcher of our family and he was interested by the fact his family on both sides came over from France to Cornwall as tin miners and that they had then moved north into coal mining. Mind, he wasn't well pleased that he had French ancestors. Dang foreigners!! His words not mine. :D

Spent a great weekend at Beamish.

Last went there 25+ years ago & it's so much bigger now, 300 acres!

Well worth a visit...

Fantastic news TM. :D

My happy news is my latest blood test results. I was expecting high figures but they are not too bad at all. I may even push the boat out and have a square of 85% chocolate. :)

Well here it's £16; though of course it might be cheaper on the likes of Ebay. Only thing that seems to be missing is the booklet. Don't know what was in it, but I can do without it. It's the one season I wanted to buy to keep.
