Re: *ALL* ntl 10MB Discussion (Part 3)
I manually upgraded to 10mb 2 weeks ago, and was upgraded straight away. but because I had a ambit 100 modem, I was only able to get 600kbps when downloading , now all of a sudden last night I wanted to download a large game demo and to my amazement I was hitting a full steady 1.15mbps on an ambit 100 silver modem for over 15mins
Tried now today and again hitting a steady 1.15mbps, I am now very happy :D :D |
Re: *ALL* ntl 10MB Discussion (Part 3)

Waited friday, waited saturday, rebooted modem a few times and checked modem config..............nothing changed. Rang CS just now to explain.........Upgrade is not available to anyone til mid december.........Arrrrrrrrrrrrrrgh! |
Re: *ALL* ntl 10MB Discussion (Part 3)
Can anyone explain what I need to do to change the set top box to a CM? (I'm right in thinking the samsung stb cant do 10 meg?)
current situation is cable comes nto the house behind the TV, then an "extension" goes back outside, up the wall and into the bedroom to finish at an RJ45 socket, which I plug the router into. Where will the CM sit? downstairs by the STB (wifey wont be pleased) or upstairs between the router and RJ45 socket? Will there need to be any changes to the wiring? Who installs the CM, NTL or me? so many questions so little time :( |
Re: *ALL* ntl 10MB Discussion (Part 3)
Personally i dont care anymore about 10meg, its just a case of waiting till its all sorted. :)

Re: *ALL* ntl 10MB Discussion (Part 3)
Anyone out there with a SB4100 getting full speed? If you are what firmware do you have?
http://www.unixmexico.org/~uncap/www.../Firmware.html This site seems to have firmware images, but I dont advise using them.... Just out of interest it would be nice to know if ntl are using a standard firmware image that is 'readily' available on t'interweb. |

Re: *ALL* ntl 10MB Discussion (Part 3)
Well I'm on 3MB service currently - i've called NTL CS 3 times now and they wont upgrade me to 10 mb though they say they have upgraded some people - all they will say is that it will be upgraded sometime between now and the end of the year though one rep said between Jan and april .
Can someone tell me which option they went through too when calling NTL - I've tried 3 and 5 now. Isn't there a broadband support number - can they do it? |
Re: *ALL* ntl 10MB Discussion (Part 3)
it just depends who you get really
some flat out refuse to do it, some do it the first time i rung, the guy said "no-one is allowed 10mbit yet, it's only a trial, you can't have it" i rang back an hour later, different person said "sure, all done for you, reboot your modem and see if it worked", i did, and it did :D |
Re: *ALL* ntl 10MB Discussion (Part 3)
Ah thx JonathanLH - Im actually in Grimsby too so I guess they are doing it here then - I guess I'll just have to keep trying!:dozey:

Awwwesome.
I rang back NTL and said that I was talking to a representitive earlier who was upgrading me to the 10Mb service but I got cut off and could we do it now please? 'Yes no problem,' came the reply and within seconds my modem was upgraded to take 10Mb - checked yours out here: http://192.168.100.1/ user - admin pass - admin Operation Configuration Network Access : EnabledMaximum Downstream Data Rate : 10240000 bps Maximum Upstream Data Rate : 512000 bps Maximum Number of CPEs : 1 Software Upgrade File Name : ntlhm100_ntl0002.cpr Software Upgrade AdminStatus : ignoreProvisioningUpgrade Software Upgrade OperStatus : completeFromMgt sweet - now just need to test it out. Perseverance people - that's the key!! ;) |
Re: *ALL* ntl 10MB Discussion (Part 3)
I had a billing complaint about NTL Digital and rang CS.
whilst he was resolving that issue he mentioned that I was on the 3mb BB, and that will be going to 10mb in December. Whilst he was typing away and sorting my bill out. I said, "so this 10mb, is it official then? I only heard rumours about it some time ago" He said, "Yes, I can put it on for you now if you like" I said "Yes please" of course :) Haven't tested fully, as he's only just flicked the switch (or whatever it is they do) |
Re: *ALL* ntl 10MB Discussion (Part 3)
Called CS today and asked about upgrading my broadband to 10mb very polite and helpfull lady said that "It has not been launched yet and that it's due to be launched just before christmas, try calling back in december"
How can it not be launched when many people are receiving it already? including people in my area and across the country? I am quite happy to wait until it is launched but I think that NTL could have planned this a little bit better? |
