In overall finances, no. But compared to its past results? Certainly.

I am not talking about MS being in trouble, just about adoption of Win8 - MS have many more strings to their bow besides their OS.

Windows is less than a fifth of their revenue stream.

One problem l have with the windows 8 app centre is it takes ages to download new apps or update ones already downloaded previously.

depends on the partnership with MS (if the company has one). we have to migrate everyone over to W8, plus our servers to WS2012. it forces us to change. and as with any business, there are a lot of people within it who are very resistant to change, regardless of what the change is. moving to W8 will be a hard move for some staff who can just about use the applications and OS as it stands, and even harder for our small IT team. there's only 3 of us who do everything IT (support, firewalls, servers, network, et cetera) in a company of around 150 people, so time is really at a premium. it's a challenge to say the least.

Having 90% of a shrinking market is not a good thing when you have failed to do well in the market that is apparently replacing it.

I always thought RTM was the final product RTM so they can get drivers etc ready to ship OEM hardware on release day. Not an un finished product

Make of this what you will

“According to WZOR, Windows 9 will be similar to the desktop OS we know today. He claims that Microsoft is planning to bring the old Aero interface back, but not as we all know it. That’s all he teases regarding the Aero interface, but he also claims that Windows 9 will make an appearance in a years time, Much sooner than expected.
