There could be a political element to this? To see how well the system copes if something really nasty went around? Just a thought.

Or it could be a chance for Gord to claim that the government saved the country if it dies down before next May.

That'd be ironic, MP's caught with their snouts in the trough and swine flu saves their bacon. :)

An otherwise healthy child who died after contracting swine flu had a rare and deadly combination of infections, it emerged last night.
Chloe Buckley’s death prompted widespread concerns about the risk posed to children by the virus. A post-mortem examination has shown that she also had a serious bacterial infection caused by streptococcus A, which led to tonsillitis and blood poisoning.

The lines finally went live at about 1pm after a few problems. Calls were really slow, I took 5 and arranged Tamiflu for 3 of them.

Slow as in the lines were quiet or the calls took a long time to deal with?

Re: Pandemic (Swine) Flu

They were dead quiet, some people hadn't taken any calls all day. All my calls lasted about 10 minutes though.

Can't be too bad then...

Maybe they are limiting calls to Welsh call centres to leave some spare capacity for when/if the service goes live for people IN Wales?

Calls coming in thick and fast now, plenty of 'worried well' trying to blag treatment too.

Question, can you only use Tamiflu once in your life?

nffc 24-07-2009 13:27

Re: Pandemic (Swine) Flu

Russ, they're probably trying to get tamiflu...

If I get it, I won't be using Tamiflu. I've spoken to some of our senior pharmacists who said it probably only reduces the symptoms by a day so I'd rather build up my own immunity.

I wonder how many of the Tamiflu manufacturing management are receiving bonus' ;)

Am I right in assuming those that are dying from this virus alone are suffering an adverse effect to it a bit (lamens terms) like an alergy? I know most have had underlying illness and Tamiflu would not really have made a difference unless they were actually on Tamiflu all the time so they never actually contract the disease?

So basically if you are going to have an adverse reaction to this virus you are going to whether you take Tamiflu or not?
