The Manchester Derby next week is going to be epic. Shame, for neutrals, that the teams aren't equal on points but City have avoided the embrassement of having United win the league at their home ground.

That said it's obviously United's title if they win.

Re: Football Season 2011/12

It would be pretty annoying to see them both on level points at the end of the season only for one of them to take it on goal difference.

Should at least be played as a playoff final type of game in the case of level points.

After supporting Chelsea for the first leg not really thinking we could be sitting 3 points clear in 4th by the weekend I now have a totally different response and lets put it this way, Barca better do something in the second leg!

It's all going to come down to the City-Newcastle game I think and I'm hoping United win next week and City feel there's nothing to play for.

Yeah. That sounds about right. The tension won't be welcome if Chelsea are in the final. I imagine if Newcastle finished 4th and suddenly had their place taken away then it would annoy a lot of people.

I am concerned about Arsenal, we don't do well at Stoke so could well be fighting for that 4th spot as well.

Arsenal striker Robin van Persie named PFA Player of the Year.

http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/17797832

Quote:

Robin van Persie has been named as the Professional Footballers' Association's Player of the Year.

The 28-year-old striker has scored 38 times this season, including 34 goals in all competitions for Arsenal.

The Dutch international, who is the Premier League's top goalscorer, said: "If other people are saying it, it is special, but it is even more special if your opponents are saying it.

"If they make up their minds that I'm the best player it is a big honour."

Van Persie, who has been inspirational for Arsene Wenger's side this season, was also quick to acknowledge the importance of his team-mates.

"Without them I could not have achieved it - for example Theo Walcott, he has given me more than 12 assists and I do really appreciate that," he said.
A well deserved award for a outstanding player.

He deserves it (even though Rooney has a better goals to games ratio ;))

Last time I went to a European match was a 1-0 win for Newcastle over Sporting Lisbon. I hope the board and Pardew know what it means to us fans to be able to do that again!

I don't think I've ever been to a Champions League match :( and I'm sorry Spurs or Arsenal fans because I'd love that opportunity even if it comes at the expense of one of you. Bobby Robson would be proud of these boys after the season we have had.

Actually looking forward to playing a big team for once which is a rare feeling as a Newcastle fan that expected 6-0 thrashing's once upon a time. Bring on City and Chelsea, We'll fight you to the end.

I don't blame you at all. People dismiss the Champions League but it's a great competition, it's my favorite of them all. I have been to some great nights at Arsenal, especially beating Barcelona 2 - 1 last year. Playing at night, that music before the game starts, the thrill of the draw to see which teams you may face and the fact that teams usually attack more. It's great and I would take a top 4 finish over the FA and Carling Cups every time. Football isn't about winning, it's about entertainment and the experience.

I hope you get it was well, just not at the expense of Arsenal. :D

That said I think those games against City and Chelsea will be hard. You've not got a great record against the other sides competing for the top 4. The Chelsea game will be interesting because both sides should be going for the three points. Pardew can't play for the draw this time, he has to go for it. Although Chelsea needed to win against us but they took the draw, I wonder if they are betting it all on winning the Champions League :/.

So anyone with half a brain could see Whyte was a shyster that was going to be a disaster for the club but they wait 18+ months before doing anything about it and kick a club, already at deaths door, when it's down.

Oh well 3rd division it is. Let's see how things go with Kilmarnock, Hearts and a few others in the crapper, no TV deal and an even worse UEFA coefficient.

Torres??? you mean that guy that cant score a goal in the league has just scored Chelsea's biggest goal for a long long time.

Re: Football Season 2011/12

Unbelievable.

So 4th won't mean Champions League final until the outcome of the CL final.

Sensational result for Chelsea and well done from a West Ham fan and his Man Utd supporting eldest. We should all get behind them for the final and hope they bring that cup back to the home of football and stuff it to UEFA!

The team that finishes in 4th won't be supporting them ;) (unless, of course, Chelsea get 4th).

Our English flag sits proudly in our home and although there may be bitter rivalry in domestic competitions when it comes to our teams in Europe l support them totally and without hesitation.

Chelsea may well take their place in next years Champions League at the expense of another team. Would you support Chelsea if their winning meant Liverpool would miss out?

I really don't get the nationalism over club teams. Chelsea are owned by a russian, managed by an italian, and half the team out tonight were not English. Clubs are vastly more international these days.
