R4 "You and Yours" consumer affairs programme has been highlighting loads of pension scams out there promising improbably high returns and many people have lost all their money in them. Go with a well known name.

The Government sorts mine out, £191 a week, no messing about with advisors, goes up every year, no worrying about investments crashing ;)

Life of luxury . . which, to be honest, I never really expected to live long enough to experience :D

Came across this really nice smart long sleeved buttoned-down collar Superdry shirt on eBay and decided to buy it. It was used but for a tenner I didn’t mind and it looked in great condition. In my size too, XL.

Arrived today and yeah, it looks brand new so I tried it on….and could barely get my arms through the sleeves.

It totally slipped my mind that Superdry’s sizes are based on Japanese people and their XL must be like a Medium to us. Gutted, I really liked the shirt.

It’s actually a U.K. company…

I don’t doubt it. However their sizes are based on the Japanese population for some reason.

Agreed - I am a 46" chest, and can't find hardly anything in there to fit (some jackets, but no polo shirts).

Not sure if that's correct. I've got a couple of jackets and they are a bit big on me when going for my usual size.

I’m pretty muscular, I mean I’m no Dwayne Johnson but I couldn’t do any of the buttons up and my arms were extremely tight in the shirt and that was an XL.

The other XL shirts I have fit properly.

I have 2 Superdry t-shirts in XL and if I’m in poser mode during the summer I’ll wear them as they’re pretty tight. Superdry’s sizes are definitely smaller on “westerners” in general.

I got offered by a guy in an unwritten white van £20 to check and clear the gutters on the house. Only the front really needed doing so I said yes. He didn't have a card or flier.

Anyhow he cleared the gutter but said that some of the concrete in the valley of the gable was insecure and removed it.

Now they're keen to come and do major works on the valley. Now call me suspicious but unwritten van, call from withheld number, no business card, a call this morning from a mobile number that doesn't trace to a bone-fide business in the area and I'm suspicious of being scammed so I've asked for a written estimate. What's the betting I don't get one?

I think you know the answer, keep well away from them.

It is a known con that they carry material up to the roof, then bring it down saying it had come off and offer to do the repair.

Personally, I wouldn’t have let him anywhere near my house in the first place. He’s actually removed material from the building because he decided it was loose? That stinks to high heaven. If I were you I’d be getting a reputable local property maintenance company to have a look at that, and don’t be surprised if your white van man has actually caused the damage in order to get you to pay him for repairs.

Thanks for the opinions guys. Just confirms my suspicions. I'll get a reputable company to give me a free survey of the valley to see if any remedial work is needed.
