But... let's also look at this from an advertiser point of view. You've got long-term contracts with UKTV based on x million viewers: Your supplier has shown willingness to drop 4 million of those at a hat, and not much willingness to get those back. They've instead preferred a social media campaign which will certainly get a few thousand (I suspect), maybe even 10s of thousands of people to switch but 4million? I very much doubt it. |

Re: Virgin Media & UKTV+ITV Channels
I have to say that the initial two posts of reaction surprise me somewhat. I mean firstly, of course it's going to be one sided. It's from one of the sides.
Secondly, I'd be very interested to know why Virgin Media verbally agreed a deal and then backed out.. so I'm hoping Virgin respond in some form. |
Re: Virgin Media & UKTV+ITV Channels
But who says that Virgin Media verbally agreed a deal and then backed out? as any Tom , Dick and Harry can say that but it should not mean we believe it what they say.
|
Re: Virgin Media & UKTV+ITV Channels
This isn't any Tom, Dick or Harry. This is one of the two sides in the negotiations. If it's false, then I'm pretty sure Virgin will be refuting it shortly.

Re: Virgin Media & UKTV+ITV Channels
As uktv is no longer on the virgin platform, shouldn't this thread be closed and moved to uktv forum (if there is one?)
Despite all the hot air from certain individuals, it seems very few have actually cancelled their virgin subs. |
Re: Virgin Media & UKTV+ITV Channels
Erm.. no. But good work assuming, there.
I do not believe either side it 100% telling the truth. I'm not one of those who thinks UKTV are angels, and that every new channel added as a replacement is shit. I've quite enjoyed Vice, Paramount and Love Nature for instance. I think the timing of this tweet - 5.30pm, just as the Virgin corporate team no doubt go home for the weekend and hence a reply will be slow to come - is suspect. That being said, I'd probably do the same myself if I was in their shoes and trying to get my channels back on air... Just a few examples, there. But equally, people have kept asking UKTV for updates. There's been many tweets directed at them as such today alone. Either you go the Virgin route - five statement s copied and pasted to death - or you try sharing actual news like UKTV have. Yes, a one sided version of it, but they're one of the sides, so it's not like they'd say 'we're being a bit dickish really'. ---------- Post added at 18:31 ---------- Previous post was at 18:29 ---------- Quote:
I mean, it's literally there in the title of the topic. If you want to not read about it, then you could just ignore this thread and read all the other ones.. |
