Yes there is ,they where ordered to block it along with the other major providers.

In the order, the judge Mr Justice Arnold told Sky, Virgin Media, TalkTalk, O2 and Everything Everywhere to begin blocking access to The Pirate Bay.
Britain's biggest ISP, BT, also received the court order but has requested further time to consider how to block the site.
as yet BT and 02 have not complied

BT has been granted more time to respond to an order to block The Pirate Bay that was handed down by the UK's High Court in London late on Friday afternoon.
So as I said there is no current court order forcing BT to block TPB.

BT are subject to the order the same as everyone else they have asked for more time to comply with the order .If there wasn't a court order with their name on it why would they need extra time to comply ?.My own personal feeling is that BT have managed to convince the judge that they have or are developing a more effective way of blocking such sites and the extra time to implement it ,don't forget that it is not the first time BT have been ordered to block sites

I guess it's semantics. I said there was no current court order forcing them to block TPB and there isn't because they were granted time to respond to the order. My main point in the original post was that they are risking nothing by not blocking TPB because right now they don't have to.

Are you by any chance related to carlwaring because you seem to have the same knack of failing to understand simple English.

There is a court order. Just because they have been granted more time to comply with it, doesn't mean the order doesn't exist.

Re: The Pirate Bay is blocked (Discuss but do not post detail of how to get round it)

Re-read my original post.

Yes there is a court order but it doesn't currently force BT to block TPB so they risk nothing by not doing so.

If there was a court order currently in force then they would be in breach of it and in trouble. They aren't so there isn't.

It's nothing to do with semantics .There is a court order and BT are included in that order ,it is current and eventually they will have to comply ,it's not difficult to understand

seriously dude ,read what you saying ,if the order wasn't in place then virgin wouldn't be blocking tpb .The only reason they aren't complying is because the judge gave them permission to take longer to implement the ban .

There is no court order which currently forces BT to block TPB. If there were they'd be blocking it. Surely that's not too difficult to understand either?

They may well block it later and I don't dispute that. What I do dispute is that they are risking anything by not blocking the site currently.

This should make what I posted earlier clearer. Hopefully it is a little simpler for people to understand. I do hope people read it and not just try and post some remarks they perceive as clever ;)

That suit is stupid.

However, if the broadcasters don't get any money from advertising, how will they fund the programme-making?

Re: The Pirate Bay is blocked (Discuss but do not post detail of how to get round it)

I'm confused. How does the DISHNetworks vs Verizon/Comcast and all the others lawsuit have any bearing on how things are in the UK?

The UK does not follow US law, nor does the US judicial system have any jurdistriction over the UK.
