Alan de Pardew on Arsenal's team in 2006:

http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/4792270.stm

Quote:

West Ham boss Alan Pardew has hit out at Arsene Wenger for not fielding an English player in Arsenal's Champions League win against Real Madrid.
"I saw a headline saying Arsenal are flying the flag for Britain," he said.

"I kind of wondered where that British involvement actually was when I looked at their team.

"It's important that top clubs don't lose sight of the fact that it's the English Premier League and English players should be involved."

"The soul of this team will remain with at least three or four English players as long as I am West Ham. I think that's important, I really do."
Guess he has changed his mind.

He's not ruling it out which is hardly surprising. Aulas is a problem.

Wengers always been a fan Damien, if Aulas allows it to happen then it will. I guess the 2 things you could hope for to stop it happening is Lyon wanting to recoup 20mil and/or Gourcuff wanting his current 100k

So were a lot of us but he has fallen away and we don't need an attacking midfielder. I don't think it's going to happen but let's see, Wenger didn't rule out Cavini either and that was clearly nonsense. I think he doesn't deny deals cos otherwise they could get to the possible ones but elimination.

We should always do what I suggest. :D. I think we need a defensive midfielder, if Tommy does that then we need another centre-back. We also need a forward and somehow make our attacks more incisive but I don't know how to do that.

Fergie doesn't go out and get investment and solve debt problems. The board does. Also United have always had more commercial revenue than Arsenal, that isn't Wengers fault either.

its a joint venture. if Fergie needs money and there isnt any Fergie needs to argue against the call not to give money to invest. you then look at everything collectively. board: we have debt. fergie: i need investment to win. board: you have to win, we need revenue. fergie: get me the players.

the process of paying back debt while not competing is dangerous. you have to compete.

He'll be playing off Cisse as far as we know. If Newcastle can keep Coloccini till the end of the season I'll be happy with our window deals.

English Premiership team Newcastle United fc have a cut price £2m bid accepted for Gouffran with Gouffran leaking that a move to Newcastle United FC is immenent via his Twitter account on Tuesday 22nd January 2013. Re: Football Season 2012/2013

Aston Villa manager Paul Lambert 'safe if side go down'
Aston Villa manager Paul Lambert's job is safe even if the club are relegated, it is understood.

Villa lost their Capital One Cup semi-final to League Two Bradford on Tuesday and are 17th in the Premier League, one point above the relegation places.

BBC Radio 5 live's Pat Murphy says Villa owner Randy Lerner talked to Lambert after watching the Bradford game live in the USA.

"Lerner is unwilling to seek more managerial upheaval," Murphy said.

Lambert guided Norwich City from League One to the Premier League before leaving to join Villa last summer.

Murphy added: "If the unthinkable happened and Villa were relegated I think Lerner would still stick with Lambert.

"He backed the manager's decision to go for young, hungry players last summer to the tune of £23m and he admires Lambert's conviction.

"They talk regularly each week and I don't think Lerner has wobbled about the manager. Lerner hasn't sacked a Villa manager during a season. He feels it's shooting yourself in the foot. He wants calm decision-making and stability."

Lerner, who has put more than £250m into the club in just over six years - including its purchase - is not due in England in the immediate future.

He is in regular dialogue with Lambert, 43, about possible transfers during the transfer window but has made it clear to the manager that only a certain amount of money is available.

"Villa have had some frustrations this month seeking some new players but I wouldn't be surprised if Lambert ends up not buying anyone," Murphy said.

"And those he wants to get off the wage bill aren't exactly attracting many enquiries. Lambert won't be buying anyone just for the sake of it."

Villa play Millwall in the FA Cup fourth round on Friday, before entertaining Newcastle, who are one place and one point above them in the Premier League, on Tuesday.

I just think Ba is a big threat. I think swansea were safe if it was just torres.

They should play torres as a winger/striker to compliment Ba. I always felt torres is quite good with crosses

Yes, I like him as a striker. Though he seems unrated by some.

Empty seats at the Emirates. Someone shouted at Diame "come to Arsenal". Diame put his thumb up and smiled. In other news Wenger has withdrawn his bid for a new zip. Zip is now back in form.

More humour, and something thenry might say

Mike Simpson on Twitter: "#bbcfootball The cynic in me says that this scoreline means Arsenal won't turn up for their next game. I'll enjoy it while it lasts though."
