Or did you see something about their Spanish venture of the same name that closed at the end of 2010?

And the linear broadcast versions of CNN International channels are still operational and are still on Sky 506/884. I'm assuming you mean closed on VM.

I believe CNN isn't on Sky Glass , i suspect it's a contractual reason why it's still on Sky TV platform , I doubt CNN is coming back on Virgin or even CNN HD launching either.

Sorry, there should have been a second comma after CNN+.

Yes, I was talking about VM (as this is the Virgin thread), and if Virgin wanted to bring the subscription channel to our screens, it could have done so already.

CNN+ is offering the same three channels that CNNGo offered - doesn't seem much different.
The US cable provider subscription option opens them up too.

I am happy enough with the CNN app on my 360. I don’t know how it differs from CNN+ except I’m not paying for it.

No it’s people all over the world , whilst being far from loaded I’m comfortable enough to afford the streaming services I want but there are only so many hours in the day and I don’t spend all of them glued to the TV.

Re: Changes to Virgin TV (2022)

The app on VM seems to be mailny news story clips.

The CNN+ app and full episodes of most CNN shows available as well as libe streams of CNN, CNN International and HLN.

But I don't think it is worth paying more than £1.99pm for.

I doubt the jigging of 2 channels about to have them in order would have anything to do with a 'new deal'

Despite the deal from October 2019 being in place MTV Play was yet to launch on the 360 when I left in January.

It’s not a good thing to be glued to the set all day, I agree. I have a number of streamers so that when I do sit down of an evening at about 9pm, there’s actually enough choice to ensure I can watch something I actually want to see.

The area I may cut back on when my contract expires is the pay TV channels. These are providing less and less value for money as far as I can see. That will leave me with only the basic TV channels (mainly the terrestrials), to which I will add the Now TV entertainment and film packages, Netflix, Prime, Apple+, Disney+, Discovery+, Stabal TV and ITVX (when available). Given that I already subscribe to most of these, the saving should be pretty worthwhile, I believe, and I won’t be losing any choice.

I’ve given up on Virgin getting more streamers very quickly and integrating the searches for them, so I’m coming to terms with having several watchlists with the associated fiddling around, but you have to go with what you can get.

Have a look a the series links options. If you select the pen and go to advanced - for new series still being made I think you can now change it to record 'new' only.

That’s a good development. I will try that out later.

epsilon did report over a past week on DS Forum:

Quote:

A mystery on the overnight analysis of changes at Virgin. A "new" service "QVC Old" has appeared in the SDT and NIT of all networks. The SID is 272, which is out of the normal range and would normally be used for placeholders. The original SID of QVC is 222 but that service is still present. If SID 272 was a true placeholder replacing SID 222 it would have the same ID number to tie the services together. However the ID is 0, so not a true placeholder. Only Virgin could have a placeholder for a service that is still present. :D

Speculation? Maybe preparation for QVC HD although there is no sign of a HD stream currently. Should be a fun experiment for those who can detect completely hidden services just by studying bitrate graphs such as those on digitalbitrate.com.

I'm guessing perhaps prep work for SD>HD but held up for some reason. Beware that SD remnants from SD>HD conversions don't always have placeholder services as the HD service holds enough data to preserve SD recordings, so nothing conclusive here. Would anyone even record QVC?

QVC Old was removed overnight and no sign of QVC being in the wings. The placeholder that wasn't a placeholder has now gone. It will be interesting to watch for further developments.

QVC to launch QVC HD and QVC Style HD on Monday on Sky and FreeSat.

Thanks, Ozsat, I have yet to find that. I will check it out later. A step in the right direction. Hopefully, we will get an undelete option with one of the next updates.
