Just rang CS. They upgraded me to 200Mb. I'm getting 207Mb. Good.

The operative also told me, unrequested, that I will be getting SH3 in February 2016 and that it has a lot more features than SH2 and is 'more powerful'.

I take everything VM say with a pinch of salt (and that is putting it mildly). Just remember that the "superhub" 1 has unbeatable wireless performance!

Why would they swap out a perfectly good hub thats upto the job for another hub, if they are doing that its gonna cost them millions for no reason.

They wouldn't. As is currently the case, if you have a Hub that is the appropriate one for the tier you are on, it wouldn't get swapped unless it developed a fault. And then it would normally be a like for like swap.

What I don't get is why she should offer that snippet of information completely unasked for.

I proceeded to ask her if the new kit had anything to do with the Hot spot development. She said not, but that I am already opted in to the Hot spot arrangement and that I can already download the new mobile app from Play Store. This appears to be premature, so perhaps I should ignore the rest of what she told me.

I dont know why they like to waffle. I was told we would have 4G in 2014, still waiting

How? There is an existing Virgin Media WiFi Buddy app but that's not for the new service.

Given the long history customer relations have of giving customers pretty much anything I fully imagine that if roughbeast decided to pursue that when the kit is released he'd get one.

However I also imagine that the man may pursue the tier that that CPE is appropriate for when it becomes available.

Yeah the phone monkies know next to nothing. They are not briefed on anything like new equipment until just before it's released and occasionally just after.

That is true, but I was meaning unprompted and by default - not by talking to Customer Relations.

Indeed, though it shouldn't be.

Rang retentions yesterday with a view to going down one tier from XL broadband, and getting the speed upgrade later on. To my complete surprise the rep I spoke to asked me to stay on the same package, and if I did I could have the movies package and the speed upgrade to 200mg, all for the same price. Of course I accepted this really good deal. Just shows that if you are nice to the reps on the phone and don't go on the bounce you can really do well. Up and running an hour later with speedtest.net showing 210mg speed. New contract of course, but not really bothered about that. All in all a good result.

Quite. As you say Playstore only has the current WiFi app not the new.

The tosh we get from CS from time to time really reflects a training issue. They should either be kept informed of recent and pending developments, or be instructed to stick to their main job and remain silent.
