BREAKING NEWS!!! BT Sport Freeview to launch at channel 548

Virgin Media Previews (channel 100) have announced that BT Showcase (a one-off events channel) is to launch at channel 548. Still no launch date in sight.

Thought it would be; seemed only logical. I believe that it's more problematic for cable companies to switch the encryption on and off too than it is for satellite.

I wasn't given a start date, but Andrew makes a good point about 'Fear The Walking Dead.

Speaking of new channels the red button on BT Sport europe works and works well, the extra feeds are SD only though.

There are a few bugs:

1. Going to BTSP Europe HD, pressing red, then choosing the first feed which is what BTSP Europe is showing currently will then load the SD variant and not go back to the HD one.

2. The choose match screen says at the bottom "press sky/tv on your TiVo remote to exit this screen", obviously we don't have a sky button, we have a TV one though. so it should say home/tv instead.

So, it seems that VM remote controls are expected to have a Sky button now(!)

That makes a lot of sense.

Another channel launching on freeview that vm aren't getting is talking pictures. That is launching on freeview September 15th (ish) my sources have confirmed no news of it being on VM.
Talking pictures shows very old movies aka 50s 60s so a few of you movie fans might enjoy it, it is however available on freesat from SKY or can be manually tuned in on a freesat box etc.

Well that's interesting as i spoke to the guy who runs it and he said the Freeview costs were too much to launch, about half a million, so to hear this is coming to FV is a bit of a surprise TBH!

Bit more info on it now if you have a freeview hd box or tv you'll get it it will not be available on standard freeview boxes, the best way to know if you'll get it is if you are getting bbc4hd and motors tv you'll get talking pictures.

If thats the case, you will need a Freeview HD receiver AND be in range of a transmitter carrying the lower powered COM7 mux.

That's right, that's the mux it's going on (less reach, but cheaper carriage.). I'm surprised they haven't gone the IPTV route.

The bus? :D Main news this weekend has been the potential sale of UTV to ITV and BT Sport striking a five-year deal with Cricket Australia including the next Ashes.
