I'm not entirely convinced that the Movie Max, referred to by MB, has any connection with Movie Mix on Freeview. In any event, it appears from Cellcast's press release, that Cellcast have sold the rights to their Movie Mix channel to Sony. In which case, I would expect the Freeview channel to morph into More>Movies at some point.

Further to the above: The Ofcom licence for this channel now lists "Media Mix (UK) Limited" as the licensee and contacts have changed from Square 1 Management to Sony Pictures Europe House.

A new shopping channel may be starting on VM:

http://forums.digitalspy.co.uk/showt...2k10;35698754]

[Looks like the starter pack is getting renamed to "the big easy bundle" as i just renewed my starter pack and got reciept saying "big easy bundle"[/QUOTE]

When VM started they said that, to keep things simple, they were only going to have M, L and XL TV packages. As time went on they had to change strategy in order to offer more products, like M+.

Looks like LG are set to scrap this system entirely and go back to naming packages in the more traditional manner.

Good research. Movie Max looks to be a Dutch DVD postal rental service. www.moviemax.nl

In other news, the German version of Universal Channel is now coming to sister UPC companies in Austria and Switzerland. Knowing LGI's intentions to standardise content, is this an indication that Universal Channel HD may be on its way to VM soon?http://www.broadbandtvnews.com/2014/...d-switzerland/

Yes, I saw that site but preferred not to speculate. Considering VMs policy of making third party content available through TiVo, this would, however, seem more likely than the Freeview connection.

According to the met office summer is those months, but traditionally, summer is the period between the summer solstice, 21st June, and the autumn equinox, 22nd September.

More importantly, both are after Monaco!

I must admit that I very rarely watch them, but they can be useful for some people eg the disabled.

Those that can't wait until the new channel launches can countdown here :D

Maybe I've cottoned onto something. Smallworld are having an overhaul on June 2nd. It may be a mammoth of a task but what are the odds of VM launching the new sky sports channels then?

Just a thought. :-)

Possibly useful to the disabled but for the moment this is a channel, proposing to provide only 1 hour of programming for 2 nights a week as an opt-out of another shopping channel. The Mall itself doesn't even have a 24/7 broadcasting schedule.

It's a tad optimistic for a channel, only providing 2 hours of output per week, to be suggesting that they hope to expand to Freeview and Virgin Media. There's a lot of other shopping channels on Sky, the first hurdle they have to clear is actually being noticed. It remains to be seen whether or not they will stand out from the crowd.

Considering the relatively small size of Smallworld compared to VM as a whole, it wouldn't really make sense to schedule new channel launches around whatever is happening there.

Yeah, that was pretty grim. Not a good way to go at all!

If my memory is correct, Media Boy advised that this is LGI's intention. Whilst I've not seen anything from LGI itself, I've not looked for it. It makes commercial sense to me.

The Content Acquisition teams are already merged, but shared content only makes sense for markets with similar culture and language, e.g. UK/Ireland, Germany/Austria/Switzerland, and Belgium/Netherlands.

I can't see much call for Romanian channels in Puerto Rico ;)
