A year ago I joined the gym. A friend posted a pic with my year ago gut. I still looked huge cycling just 15 minutes a day started me down the road to where a year later my cardio fitness is great

I bet you was pleasantly pleased somebody took a minute to appreciate you, taking the picture I mean. There are nice people out there in this unforgiving world we live in. Well done Jaymoss. I hope to feed off your success :D

Speak to your bike shop about whether they can make it fit better, though they are easier to make larger than smaller (longer stem and seatpost).

My thighs hitting my belly when cycling was what persuaded me to lose weight. 31kg lost so far.

Near 5 stone. I'd be happy with +2 to your tally thus far.

I'll ask him. I have soo many questions. I hope I don't piss him off.

Re: Who Is Getting Fit This Year?

So after 2/3 weeks on Ozempic I'm starting to feel the effects.

Firstly, not the nasty effects I was told about. Supposedly, you get nausea and the drizzling shits - thankfully these seemed to have passed me by.

The main effect is what it's done to my appetite. In short, I haven't really had one for a week or so. Before Ozempic I'd always eat roughly every 2 hours, and fairly large meals. Now, I'll have a high-protein breakfast (which I never really feel the need for) and don't get hungry for anything more until around 1 in the afternoon. I need to maintain a protein intake of above 200g per day, so my diet typically consists of some form of grilled chicken (breakfast is Fuel's high-protein flakes) with veg, and I fit in three protein shakes throughout the day.

It's a really strange feeling, though. The best way I can describe it is when you've eaten a meal and you feel 'comfortably' full (rather than food-coma full), but you keep that feeling for 4 to 5 hours.

I've possibly lost 2 to 3 lbs so far, but it's hard to tell as weight fluctuates through the day so I'll keep at it for another month or so.

Also added more cardio whilst at the gym so I'll see how things go from there.

We priced up injections v Slim Fast and diet shakes came out at about the same cost based on the predicted typical costs of injections. However I’m pretty confident there would be hidden extras with injections, and as we both really need to get our grazing under control we thought doing it the old fashioned way would be cheaper and more disciplined.

Missus has however really struggled to lose more that a couple of lb in a month while I have now lost almost a stone.

By the way, this is mainly through a low-ish carb diet. Mrs P was diagnosed diabetic, and went on a proper low carb diet (she's done really well at reversing the diabetes), and I just kind-of eat the same things as her. If I get peckish between meals I eat fruit. Seems to do the trick.

Getting these scales also really motivated me. I'm amazed that something at this price can measure your body composition and weigh you to a 50g resolution.

Re: Who Is Getting Fit This Year?

I went for a ride up the road for the first time on this what I can only describe as broken bike. The drivetrain feels dead and the shifters are hard to function. My fat ass feels unbalanced on it, I can't do acute turns due to me not being able to handle my excess weight. Normally you'd lean into the turns then go upright again but because I can't handle my weight I'd fall. Thankfully I took it easy knowing my limitations so I didn't fall nevermind attempt acute turns. This shit is a disability I swear you can't do anything with excess weight.

I've got a bike specialist coming out tomorrow morning to collect the bike. I must remember to ask him whether he can do anything about the ride height. It's ever so slightly higher than I'd like, there's not much in it but enough to make me feel an imbalance.

Heavy breathing. Legs started to hurt. Sweating. From only going up the road. I won't complain though as its my body reacting which is better than no reaction.

You will soon build it up mate you just have to persevere. I think I was still over 20 stone when I first started riding out. I was going 15 minute rides only at the start

I see your bike has full suspension. I find this steals the effort. Much prefer hard tail and fixed forks myself. You might find this in itself will make the bike harder to get used too but you will get used to it

I can't do this anymore. The weight has to go

95kg today - 15 stone.

The journey to half my weight begins...

What should I eat? As mentioned before a dietician told me half plate veg.

You want to go down to 7.5 stone? That's way to low isn't it.
