One of the better horror films of late, probably the best actually. Worth a watch, funded by kickstarter. |
Re: Rate the last movie you saw
Forgot to post these after I watched them,
Ghostbusters 10/10 after 30 years its still perfection. I saw it at Cineworld for their anniversary showing. Die Hard 2 8/10 still brilliant after every viewing. The Divergent 6/10 not great but watchable. Very similar to Hunger Games and Maze Runner. Lets Be Cops 7/10 a lot funnier than I thought it would be. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles(2014) 2/10 god awful! |

John Wick, high body count and one of reeve's better movies 7/10

Re: Rate the last movie you saw
Spooks: The Greater Good - 9/10
As a massive fan of the show I was gutted when it ended so I've been really looking forward to this. Game of Thrones' Kit Harrington plays the Tom/Adam/Lucas lead which surprised me and obviously Harry is back too. Only a small handful of previous characters show up but there's one VERY pleasing cameo, I won't spoil it but for fans of the show you will definitely smile when this individual shows up :) If you've never seen Spooks you probably won't be as enthusiastic about the film, you'll probably still enjoy it though but some parts are a bit too quick to be understood for people who never got in to the show. It doesn't compare very well on a visual level with Bourne, 24 etc as there is only one explosion etc so it relies on the storyline and performance from the actors which works really well. Some very unexpected deaths and plot twists shake things up nicely. Left open for a potential sequel which is good as I doubt the show will ever return. Disappointed they didn't use the theme at the end though! :D |

I went to see this not ever seeing the tv show before and i didn't think it stood up as a movie in it's own right. The acting was top notch but it just watched like a long episode of the tv show which is great for fans of the show but not for anyone who hasn't seen it . 5.5/10 |
Re: Rate the last movie you saw
Project Almanac - 6/10. Enjoyable enough and not boring but not the greatest time traveller out there by any means. But 50/50 on this found footage style of film. This views a lot like Chronicle did but a different story. Worth a watch if you've got nothing in mind in my opinion.

Re: Rate the last movie you saw
Area 51. 1/10
Total crap. A horror based around Area 51 has potential but this was utterly obliterated by the found footage style, the complete lack of any horror and the sheer borefest this movie is. I was hoping this would show off a more realistic approach even though the outside world has no clue what to expect in there, what you're left with is truly dire. Shaky camera's and leaving you feeling that you've just watched a bootleg easily make this the worst and most pointless film of 2015. |

Well I don't think its 100% confirmed by Fox. But the write/creator and possible director are all talking about it. Mad Max Fury Road 2/10 - really didn't like it at all. Aside from all the action scenes there wasn't much acting or story or anything really. Meh.... Tomorrowland 8/10 - Now this was a great Disney film and surprisingly it was a 12a which meant there was a good bit of violence and language. Great fun adventure. |

San Andreas - 9/10
Such a great fun disaster movie. Home - 6/10 Funny in most parts but a bit silly. Also Has Rhianna as the main female lead(Although girl is meant to be 11) However over use of her own songs in the soundtrack! |

Kajaki - 9/10
A proper war film (Afghanistan), without a known cast. Based on a true story too. About a group of soldiers stuck in a minefield basically. Very realistic, not an easy watch but should be seen. |

Yes l loved the originals so its going to have to be something special to please me.

Re: Rate the last movie you saw
Kingsman 9/10
Have to agree with Stephen, just an awesome and well made film. It was always going to be too "British" for the Americans but one of the best spy films ever, think James Bond with Expendables-esque action and a bit of humour thrown in plus some of the best fight scenes ever. I'd love a sequel as long as it wasn't Americanised as the Britishness is what makes it so good. I agree about Samuel L Jackson's lisp, I'm guessing they wanted to give him something to make him more annoying but he's a good enough actor to not need something pointless like that. |
Re: Rate the last movie you saw
Kingsman was a good watch, definitely an 8/10 from me.
|
Re: Rate the last movie you saw
Jurassic World - 8/10.

Ted 2. 3/10
Pointless, no plot, too random and wasn't funny at all. A total disappointment. Don't waste your time. |
Re: Rate the last movie you saw
Well with your ultra critical review l doubt that it will sell for 50 pence in a charity shop.:D
|
Re: Rate the last movie you saw
I'll still go see it.
If I had listened to reviews or opinions I'd never have gone to see Terminator Genisys and I actually really enjoyed it. TED made me laugh a lot and so did Million Ways to Die in the West and Family Guy. |
Re: Rate the last movie you saw
I enjoyed Ted 1, but part 2 was just a mess. Just too many random scenes that didn't add to anything, and the plot is just too thin. The 1st one was memorable but part 2 is forgettable adding nothing to the original.
It's because of the randomness, not enough funny moments and no longer have that originality to me it just was drawn out so 3 out of 10 is about right. I also enjoyed Million Ways to Die in the West and Family Guy, I love gross out humour films but this wasn't one of them. |
Re: Rate the last movie you saw
Isn't the random scenes what family guy and to an extent American Dad is all about though?
|
Re: Rate the last movie you saw
Loved both movies.
Terminator Genisys: 9/10 Kingsman: 9/10 |
Re: Rate the last movie you saw
jurassic world 5/10 what a huge let down.

Ted 2 - 6/10
It was never going to be a classic, more an extended version of Family Guy. Some funny bits and I loved the Jurassic Park reference :) |
Re: Rate the last movie you saw
Jurassic World - 6/10
Child 44 - 8/10 True Story - 4/10 Soaked in Bleach - (A Documentary about the death of Kurt Cobaine) Pretty interesting stuff, an eye opener for sure. |

Re: Rate the last movie you saw
Mission Impossible 5 - Rogue Nation 8/10.
Just watched at the newly opened IMAX at Leeds Kirkstall Vue - the Luxury seats are leather electric recliners, with a sliding tray to rest your wine/beer/snacks on (which they sell in the actual screen, not just at the main kiosk). Sound and picture quality are amazing, and the film was very enjoyable as well. This, and the Everyman in Leeds (which has waiter service to the seat) are my two favourite cinemas now. |
Re: Rate the last movie you saw
The Man From UNCLE - 8/10
I might have given it more had I not fallen asleep :D Really good actually (my dropping off was due to being so tired), think of a 1960s James Bond film with the humour and slickness of Ocean's Eleven. Completely OTT and unrealistic but it was never meant to win an Oscar. |
Re: Rate the last movie you saw
Chappie - Utterly brilliant! One of the most underrated films of the year. I didn't enjoy district 9 that much but found it watchable... This I found much better. The only downside is the massive advertisement for Die Antewoord or whatever they're called. They literally play themselves. 8/10
Left Behind - Netflix watch without checking ratings 0/10. What is the deal with Nic Cage taking anything he can get his hands on... The worst part about it is the fact this is a serious film and I'd consider birdemic to top this. Terminator Genisys (Keeps autocorrecting) - 5/10. 1 point for Matt Smith but it's an awful 'reboot' I'd rather they'd continued from Salvation even if it wasn't the best because this is probably worse. Burying one of my favourite franchises. |
Re: Rate the last movie you saw
San Andreas 10/10 superb movie
Terminator Genisys 7/10 this is the reboot it needed. End of the watch 7/10 gritty drama (netflix). |
Re: Rate the last movie you saw
Legend - 9/10.
What an awesome film. I loved the 1990 Krays film and was expecting something similar but I couldn't be more wrong. Tom Hardy absolutely nails both roles and you can tell within the first 5 minutes how good he'll be. At times you forget he plays both characters he's that good and transforms Ronnie in to such an unintentionally tragic funny person. Best comment of the evening, as we left someone said "That was good, I wonder if they'll do a sequel..." |
Re: Rate the last movie you saw
Gravity - wavering between 7/10 and 8/10. Curiously, it's not the first time media has addressed the issue of space junk; it first came up in UFO, the episode Conflict. The Aliens took advantage of a piece of junk, which was frequently passed by SHADO's Lunar Modules, to place a sort of limpet there; it caused an LM to re-enter too steeply, resulting in its burning up.
I've heard criticism that the film wasn't realistic, but I don't agree (except for the re-entry scene - Ryan could never have made re-entry safely with the vehicle tumbling like that); everything seemed spot-on to me. Avengers: Age Of Ultron - definite 10/10! One of my favourite bits, though, as a Firefly fan, was the bar scene between Natasha and Bruce; it was Kaylee and Simon all over again! I'm sure Josh had a lot of fun with that scene! |
Re: Rate the last movie you saw
SPECTRE 10/10
Watched all the Daniel Craig bonds in preparation for this one and loved it. Other half was with me when we went to see this at the local IMAX as she has a connection to it in preparing the hyundia police cars shown in the last few scenes :D |
Re: Rate the last movie you saw
It follows 7/10 a good creepy horror.
|
Re: Rate the last movie you saw
Hitman: Agent 47 - 5/10, has it's moments but it's somehow worse than the first. A shame too because Rupert played the perfect 47.
MI:Rogue Nation - 8/10. They seem to get better as the series goes on. |
Re: Rate the last movie you saw
Journey to the Prehistoric Planet - utter rubbish, I only bought it because it was made in the same year the recipient was born as a silly birthday present. Varies between colour and black and white, not because of artistic genius but because it was the film in the camera at the time.
