Very bad news for Villa given their scarce resources.

Barcelona transfer ban an injustice.

Sunderland fined for fielding ineligible player.

They have got off very lightly as l thought the punishment in fielding ineligible players was a points deduction.

See what happens see what happens if sunderland stay stay up. About fifteen years ago.the mighty hammers beat villa in the league cup quarter final iirc only to be told the next day one of the subs had played in the competition whilst on loan to a team of considerably lower quality, he only played something like three minutes that night and didn't even touch the ball. The match had to be replayed, hammers lost and that player never played.for the first team again, in fact his promising career went down the toilet, he got released, drifted down the.leagues and out of the game.

I think they should have been docked points, because Poyet moaned about someone playing an ineligible player against a team he was managing and demanded they got a points deduction. So I would have thought that a fair punishment would have been any points won during those league games he played in got deducted.

Statement from Sunderland AFC.

Club spokesperson:

“The issue of Ji Dong-won was explained in detail at today’s Premier League shareholders' meeting and no issues were raised by any club.

“Sunderland AFC confirmed that they had complied with all procedures and the Premier League stated that the player was duly registered on the extranet system and in all other Premier League mechanisms.

“The club has never accepted any wrongdoing, but did acknowledge that a technical fault occurred and as such were fined by the Premier League accordingly in December.

“The matter is now closed.”

If that is the case, I don't see need for points deduction. Looks more like a case of too complicated a system, where one bit wasn't updated.

Given FA, that wouldn't surprise me, I think all the football organisations have their head up their ass (can I say ass?, or is posterior better)

Still amazed to see that United have the best away record in the Premier League TBH.
