I'm afraid that as long as people are prepared to pay stupid prices for football, Sky will be encouraged to keep their prices sky high.

But they are not leaving in droves are they currently?.

With all the special deals on sports packages that are being offered to keep customers, Sky must be taking a hit.The question is how long can they keep doing it until profits begin to suffer?

Agreed but look how many people are being offered discounts for Sports , if everything was as expected would they need to offer these? In my opinion some of the drop can be attributed to people cancelling

Got to agree. Logged into my SKY account just now and seen this offer.

Well they have been giving considerable discounts for some time and still their profits continue to rise so there is your answer great bear.

Yes, Den, but if substantial numbers of viewers fall away, Sky's profits will take a big hit.

Yes, that's the annoying thing about the future - it hasn't happened - yet!

I think that slowly the numbers will keep decreasing, with possibly NOW TV and UHD stopping the rot slightly.

You average family wants a mix of film, TV Box sets, kids TV and sport. In the past you had either Sky or Cable yet now with Smart TV you can have freeview and pick and choose a bit of Netflix/Amazon and Now TV, Eurosport Player etc.. Or opt for BT TV and get a reasonable amount of sport (just need a bit more cricket and I'd be satisfied)

Interesting times ahead (especially as a self proclaimed SKY hater) . Exclusive content is the key but when it comes to sport the price is being forced up at ridiculous levels and I think it's about to hit a peak.

They maybe for now, but at the rate of discounts it can only be a matter of time before profits take a hit. Unless the sponsorship they get fills the gap, then again they are reliant on viewing figures . IMO we are at a tipping point the next Premier League sports rights deal will be interesting.
