Using the latter makes you a racist apparently, even I didn't know this.

In the UK the term is, at best, seen as old fashioned and "something your gran might say".

But it's also regarded as a highly offensive racial slur which recalls a time when casual racism was a part of everyday life.

In the US, because of the country's recent era of racial segregation, it is among the most offensive words for describing a black person.

"[It] was used to describe anybody who was not white, which may imply that to be white is 'normal' or default," says the charity Show Racism the Red Card.

"If we consider it, every human has a skin colour, so technically we are all coloured."

Historically, the word is associated with segregation, especially in the US, where black people where kept separate from white people - on public transport, or at drinking fountains which were described as "coloured-only" for example.

Monobloc kitchen tap has been leaking from the cartridge area, can't find replacement cartridges - they're a weird size :(

Ordered another tap online - has to be a specific colour for the wife

Tap arrives and I fit it . . and find the threads on the flexi hoses are different to the existing ones, and have a different fitting at the other end

Cue lots of messing about adapting existing pipework so they fit - instead of simply using the existing hoses.

At my age, with lower spine arthritis, I can do without buggering about under a sink

Yet another new bloody quiz, with Michael Mcintyre.

Can TV people make better TV than Crap quiz after crap quiz.

Trouble is my dad loves quizzes, but I'm sick to death of the number that now flood our TV, some are on 6 times a week.

Don't get me started on that awful Danny Dyer garbage.

Thanks god I have online gaming to fall back onto.

Can you not watch a TV show or movie on your tablet with headphones then you get to watch what you want at the same time keeping him company in the room?

Don't you just love it when loads of films being shown on TV which I have missed, shame no subtites to accompany it!
Being deaf I rely on the subtitles and swmba doesn't want to share the sound with neighbours living other end of road.

I agree, I can't watch anything without them, so channels like Horror Channel and quite a few others are pointless as they don't have subtitles at all.

I agree i like to use subtitles too.

A work around is to source what you watch by another means, i use CinemaHD app on firestick, everything has subtitles on that for movies and TV shows at a click of a button.

I started to apply fro a job which was just outside my maximum distance and under my minimum salary.

I went to their site which then wanted me to upload my CV, then download and write a 9 page application form and everything mirrored what my CV said, worst of all the form was absolute garbage, it was a rubbish layout, dare I say the person was bind as the form had sections that spread over 2 pages, and rather do some decent formatting.

So I decided to scrap the application.

It’s reasonably common nowadays, as the application form may be asking you to evidence required competencies/experience requested in the role description- this is to make it easier for the application reviewers to score the application (rather than having search through the CV for the info for each requirement), as they may have dozens of applications to review, and after a while they may miss the bit on your CV that matches a requirement.

Came to hospital today to get a catheter in my tummy for dialysis.

Its always my luck something goes wrong. Still on oxygen and had lots of bleeding from it. Had to have IV drugs to try and stop the bleeding. Its also ruddy painful.

Also instead of general anaesthetic I had a weird anaesthetic in my back. With sedation. Took a couple of hours before I could feel or move my legs and feet.

Looks like I'll be stuck here a couple of days.

That’ sounds like an epidural. ( They offer them to women in labour).

Think you put the other moans and pet hates into perspective. Get well soon.
