I'm happy to shop around. If SKY offer me 1/2 for 12 months to stay I'd find that difficult to turn down.

I'm just after good all round entertainment at the right price. The price of both companies top end packages are getting pretty expensive. Both come it at almost £1500.00 per year, and that's before you have to pay for any additional phone calls etc... Whilst it's affordable, I've got better things to spend such money on.

sky news HD and SSN HD only sky channels we got chance of getting

The amount of times I heard the words "available nowhere else" when signing up to sky does make me feel this is right at the moment. To quote the conversation;

"You get all the entertainment channels in HD including Sky Atlantic that will never be on Virgin Media"

"Sky Movies On Demand with more titles available on demand than anywhere else"

"All 6 Sky Sports channels in HD which are not available anywhere else"

Even Sky Sports News HD I'd begin to question now...

Until NOW TV has been fully milked, I can't see SKY Atlantic on any other platform.

I'm with you Dave, SKY Sports News HD and SKY News HD seem the most likely to launch on Virgin. I can't see SKY changing their stance on SKY Sports 3 & 4 HD. I think SKY might allow access to SKY Atlantic in the near future, as they enter into the last 2 years of their content deal with HBO. I can see SKY cashing in on SKY Atlantic to cover their outlay for the channel over the past 3 years.

In my humble opinion, I don't think SKY Atlantic will have a long term future.

I don't think Sky have a stance on SS3 & 4 HD. I think that VM wanted to offer their customers what appeared to be a better deal in offering HD for £7 instead of Sky's £10. I think that VM could offer those channels (and F1 HD) at any time, if they wanted to, but the HD charge would have to raise to £10.

Of course, I'm only speculating, but I don't think that VM think there would'nt be enough takers, given that most of the sport that people are willing to pay for is on SS1 and 2.

You do make a good point.

Since I've had SKY, and all SKY Sports channels in HD, I'd have to guess that about 90% of the live action I've watched has been on SKY Sports 1 & 2. In fact I don't think I've watched a single thing on SKY Sports 4 HD in the past 12 months.

The boxing is on SKY Sports 2, Scotland Internationals tend to be on SKY Sports 2 and the Scottish Cup tends to be on SKY Sports 2. I do tend to watch tennis and have noticed that SKY shows the early rounds of tournaments on SKY Sports 3, but once you get to the latter stages their coverage switches to either SKY Sports 1 or 2.

Based on what I watch, SKY Sports 3 & 4 HD aren't that important at all.

They're likely to be even less watched when the Champions League moves to BT next season.

So the posters who are convinced the missing Sky channels that are on a list are coming in the Autumn.... are you still confident?

Re: Coming soon to Virgin TV (2013) Vol. 6.

I just called SKY to cancel my services early. My current deal expires on 15th January meaning I should actually call on 14th December giving them 31 days notice. I advised I'm aware of this but don't mind paying 13 days worth of early cancellation costs. I was told call back on 14th December, quote the persons name who set me up on 50% off friend and family in the first place, and they'll give me another full year at 1/2 price!

Must admit it's looking very unlikely I'll be coming back to Virgin. SKY are giving me everything for just under £63.00 per month.

Have you looked at using Top Cashback or Quidco when ordering VM?

That's not true at all. It was made clear at the time of the Sky F1 launch on VM that HD was staying exclusive to Sky

However, Virgin will not be able to offer the high definition version of Sky Sports F1, as that will stay exclusive to Sky.
Also the ruling from OFCOM only covers Sky Sports 1 & 2 in HD, so again it's why Virgin Media only have them

Part of Ofcom's ruling states that HD versions of Sky Sports 1 and 2 must be offered to rivals on "fair, reasonable and non-discriminatory terms".
