Ofcom have made no decision as yet,but in the case of premium content have already announced they are looking to put all premium content as regards sports/movies on a level par, be it standard definition sports/movies or HD sports movies, and have both on a regulated price available to all platforms as they are key subscription drivers.

I am sure neil berkett is referring to that,as it looks increasingly likely that is what ofcom will recommend.

...yep, I agree. I was getting a bit confused about Ofcom's announcement to do something in the future and an actual decision. That's what happens when you post on a empty stomach.:)

So, I still think it'll be 18 months+ before we see any meaningful HD content on cable pending ofcom's decision and any appeal Sky may make.

As soon as any deal is done between Sky and VM on HD sports and films, VM will shout through the roofs about it.

Media Boy EXCLUSIVE 1: Two UKTV Channels to relaunch ''later in the year'' on Virgin TV.

UKTV has told me today that Eden + 1 and Yesterday + 1 will relaunch on Virgin TV ''later in the year''.

Info from UKTV.

Media Boy EXCLUSIVE 2: BBC Alba on Virgin TV update.

I have also got the following from the BBC:

Quote:

The date for BBC ALBA carriage on cable has yet to be confirmed, but Virgin Media will be launching BBC ALBA. They do not, as yet, have an exact date for launch, however they are pleased to confirm that BBC ALBA is in their launch schedule and will be available to Virgin Media customers in due course.
Info from BBC Information.

So BBC ALBA is in their 'launch schedule' so in other words its in the 'coming soon' schedule.

Media boy what do you mean EDEN+1 and yesterday+1 will relaunch?

You mean they are coming back?

Re: Coming Soon to Virgin TV (2009)

To be honest, l am getting totally confused by the whole situation on this HD crap on VM, firsly we are told that VM will be having the channels, then we are hearing that they have signed for ONE Hd channel (Sky have 32?), then we hear that they don't have the room for HD channels, Then we hear that they have signed for a further four HD channels, it is like watching paint dry, then they say by the end of the year, which year? Then we hear that although, we have kissed and made up on the Sky basics, But HD channels is a different matter, oh don't forget the text and red buttons, or is this ALL controlled by Sky giving us the thumbs up, l am still waiting for the pink elephant to fly past my house.

I have strong intel that suggests Yesterday + 1 will be named "Today".

Seriously, wasting even more bandwidth on +1's basically tells us that there will be NO MORE HD.

I think you missed my point. Adding more useless +1 channels is taking up valuable bandwidth that SHOULD be used foe either HD content or additional channels.

+1 channels are a complete waste of time.

Re: Coming Soon to Virgin TV (2009)

Well said andrew ive said in numerous posts if you want hd go to sky.VM is an internet based media company offering tv and phone. All this moaning about hd people talk like theve been given a 3 year stretch of VM with no parole. Youre free to choose and if youre still moaning about hd you've made the wrong choice.

Arthurgray50@blu 26-03-2009 22:33

Re: Coming Soon to Virgin TV (2009)

If there is supposed to be no more room for HD channels, VM MUST get rid of +1 CHANNELS, as they are a complete waste of time, so why have them.

Re: Coming Soon to Virgin TV (2009)

If you don't have a V+ box the +1 channels are very useful.
