Interesting that TalkTalk is playing hard ball on this too ie we're not going to accept your price rise, we'll leave it, thanks very much.

I've been saying all along this would happen , Sky needs to save money expect all those channels that get paid for being part of its package to come under increased pressure in my opinion.

The trouble is because of that they will probably lose even more customers Andrew.

Another outcome could be that Discovery comes back to the negotiating table and maybe a deal for Eurosport is signed as well.

In my opinion going forward we'll see the number of pay channels decrease.

I would argue for many prices have gone down , looking at two forum members on here Chad and PB they're now getting packages that are saving them heaps of money thanks in part to the fierce competition and the arrival of OTT players.

Re: ESPN, BT, Euro, Premier and Sky Sports news

Yes you could argue that but the inertia of many customers is they are unwilling to phone up their providers and haggle for a better price for their packages.

Then I have little to no sympathy for them , you can't complain if you can't be bothered to explore other avenues. Whether we like it or not switching for a better deal has become a way of life.

In many cases a call and a mention your thinking of switching results in a discount.

Indeed l phoned up and politely stated our available options of which one was of leaving and two minutes later we got £31 off our package for the next year.

The thing is some people find it awkward to try and thrash out a deal. Not everyone has the gift of the gab.

Indeed that is often the case as my parents certainly would not phone up to barter for a better deal.
