I can't see him amounting to much more than what Leon Best was for us. Pretty much a nail and head comment you made.

There's a foundation to build upon at Newcastle now of course and money to be spent but I can only see s handful of current players that could cut it in the top flight.

Mo Diame is horrific at times. Replaced Sissoko with Sissoko. Anyone that wasn't good enough last time round but is still here should be the first in line to be replaced. Gouffran, Colback and so forth. I don't think many are safe under Rafa. Mitrovic has barely got a look in this season despite scoring when he's had the chance.

Whatever.

My point was that the fact a defender was a couple of feet behind doesn't detract from the skill involved in the execution of the shot.
Just a pity a lot of the 'fans' missed it judging by all the empty seats.

And my point is Giroud gets better recognition for said skill because its within the rule book of the game.

Another way of looking at it is if he's goal was ruled offside we wouldn't have the chance to see that great goal again, it would've just been forgotten as it didn't count

Another way would be if it came down to goal of the season Giroud would win it because it's onside.

Really??

Far more impressive are Costa's goals against WBA and Stoke.

Proper CF goals.

Giroud should have never been allowed that goal, he nearly kicked a Palace player in the face. Dangerous play, deserving of a straight red for dangerous play.

Even the diehard Arsenal fans in my family say it should have been disallowed.

Don't believe that for a second but seeing the Zlatan goal disallowed I know where you are coming from.;)

Must say I have always liked Costa apart from his occasional lapses of over aggression. Now he seems to be more at peace within himself he is playing like an old fashioned British centre forward, using both strength and skill to maximum effect.

It's bloody freezing out there, trying to decide if I should make a visit to Ice Station Zebra ( aka Boundary Park) The Latics have been very poor this season and were just as bad last year on the few occasions I watched them live.

Should be able to go and get back in time for the Hammers v United game later so may dig out my thermals :)
