"Please comply with the law/regulations" is not 'draconian' :(

@CarlW

You don't happen, by any chance, to work for the fincance department of a local authority do you?

Cheers

If anything they are slightly worse. A guy I used to work with ran a Big Band club at the local university and the PRS goons were always coming to concerts and trying to get on stage so they could see if any of the sheet music was photocopied and to make sure they didn't play any copyrighted songs.

Occasionally while tuning up they would demand payment because some random notes sounded a bit like some song, and had to be ejected from the venue. They still hung around outside trying to listen in though.

Its easy, If the rights owners act like thugs and thieves which some of them DO then you can only expect the people they target to do the same back.

Who are paid to do a jog. No real reason to insult them :rolleyes: But at least it shows your bias in the subject.

Only your word for this so can't comment.

Well, if they'd paid to be able to (and could prove it) they won't have had a problem.

I'm sorry but I just do not believe you.

OK, just wondered, but with any luck you've helped me win the office prize for asking a random person (you) a pre-defined obscure question (do you work in local government finance) in an imaginative way (in a forum).

Cheers

No, it really doesn't. People can say anything with no proof on the internet and that just sounds preposterously unlikely.

Seriously - it does. You just can't see it.

You have as much a bias in this as anyone else. The only difference is yours leans in a different direction - but a bias all the same. The sooner you accept it the sooner you'll be able to move on.

We all have biases/prejudices - it's just whether we recognise them, and try to counter them by having reasoned discourse, rather than spouting emotive polemic or diatribe.

Sorry. Let me clarify. I'm sure they do do random inspections. I'm just not sure they are conducted with the hyperbole you used to describe it.

And I think that people should similarly avoid hyperbole :)

If you could show me where I've discussed random inspections I'll be happy to engage you.
