The deal, commencing April 21st, means BoxNation will bring two GBP shows LIVE each month. So it looks like Berto Vs. Ortiz II on the 23rd June will now be on Boxnation, not SKY. Boxnation also announced they will be broadcasting all episodes of Mayweather Vs. Cotto 24/7. |
Re: BoxNation on Virgin Media?

It's beginning to look really good for Boxnation. They seem to be on good terms with Top Rank and now GBP. It's also good to seem them picking up more European action outwith Sauerland events with the likes of Denis Lebedev vs Shawn Cox and Lukas Konecny vs Salim Larbi next week. They are on the brink of being able to deliver 8 shows per month, which for me is great value at £10.00 per month. Boxing fans are spoiled in April: 04/04/12 - Denis Lebedev Vs. Shawn Cox - Boxnation 05/04/12 - Lukas Konecny Vs. Salim Larbi - Boxnation 13/04/12 - Bigger's Better - Eurosport 13/04/12 - Tony Bellew Vs. Danny McIntosh - SKY Sports 13/04/12 - Michael Katsidis Vs. Albert Mensah - ESPN 14/04/12 - Tyson Fury Vs. Martin Rogan - Channel 5 21/04/12 - Anthony Crolla Vs. Derry Matthews - SKY Sports 21/04/12 - James DeGale Vs. Christian Sanavia - Boxnation 21/04/12 - Anselmo Moreno Vs. David De la Mora - Boxnation 27/04/12 - Ismayl Sillakh Vs. Denis Grachev - ESPN 28/04/12 - Jack Morris Vs. Simon Parkins - Eurosport 28/04/12 - Nathan Cleverly Vs. Robin Krasniqi - Boxnation 28/04/12 - Bernard Hopkins Vs. Chad Dawson - Boxnation There's got to be a point when BBC or ITV realise boxing is going through a resurgence. I'm finding it hard to remember a time when so much boxing was available on TV. The sport needs more free coverage on the main terrestrial channels. |

Juan Manuel Marquez Vs. Serhiy Fedchenko and Brandon Rios Vs. Richard Abril are HBO PPV on the 14th April, the only weekend Boxnation have no confirmed action yet, and is a Top Rank show. I've got a really good feeling Boxnation will snap this up. Seeing SKY have shown 2 of Sturms last fights, and they interviewed him 2 weeks ago on Ringside, I have a sneaky suspicion they will grab Strum Vs. Zbik and show it as a double header on the same night as Bellew Vs. McIntosh. The Karoly Balzsay Vs. Dimitri Sartison card from Germany on the 21st April looks like it has the potential to be great. I've seen people asking Boxnation about this card on Facebook but the replies don't seem positive. Sadly we might miss this one. I beleive Jermain Taylor next outing will be on Premier Sports as part of their ongoing deal with Lou Dibella. Vyacheslav Senchenko Vs. Paul Malignaggi is a Sunday broadcast, WTF? Not too sure anyone will pick this up, but I would like to see it. I'd still like to see some action from around the world, especially from Japan, Thailand, South Africa and the Philippines. Plenty of world title action at the lower weight divisions. In 2 weeks time Vic Darchinyan takes on Shinsuke Yamanaka for the WBC bantamweight title in Tokyo. Even if these international cards could be shown on a delayed basis I'd be happy. Nodoby ever seems to pick up these cards. |

I don't for one minute believe McIntosh is ill. This is now the second time the fight has been moved. Firstly it was moved from 14th April to 13th as it clashed with both Liverpool Vs. Everton and the Grand National at Aintree however I believe it was down to Channel 5 announcing that Tyson Fury Vs. Martin Rogan would be shown live at the same time. Then when Boxnation announce Sturm Vs. Zbik will clash with Bellew Vs. McIntosh surprise surprise the fight is moved yet again too the 27th April when funnily enough it doesn't clash with any other televised fight. |
Re: BoxNation on Virgin Media?
I pay £76 per month for sky full package including sports, and espn.
Question Does this Box Nation mean that my sports package will be diluted, and I will effectively have to pay another £10 per month. If so, do you think this is a foul, and just another way of squeezing the customer. We will get fed up with being treated like this. |

SKY used to offer between 4 and 5 PPV shows per year at £14.99 each however last year they decided to stop PPV. Frank Warren, who used to have 3 of these shows, took his fighters off SKY and helped launch Boxnation. People who subscribe to SKY are still getting the same amount of shows they did in 2010 and 2011. Boxnation launching hasn't had any effect on what SKY are putting out each month. It just means other promoters who have contracts with SKY are getting more air time, filing the void left by Frank Warren. Boxnation is a channel for hardcore boxing fans. Since the demise of Setanta Sports in 2009 Boxing fans in the UK experienced somewhat of a drought in terms of international action with SKY only picking up "massive" fights. SKY had a 2 year window to snap up boxing rights and did nothing. They let boxing fans down massively. ESPN too have done far too little to appease boxing fans. Personally I'm delighted to pay £10.00 per month to Boxnation to access the best boxing action on TV. Boxnation is exactly what I've been waiting for since Setanta collapsed. Who knows maybe Boxnation launching will give SKY the kick up the rear they needed and SKY subscribers will be treated to even more boxing in the near future. |
Re: BoxNation on Virgin Media?
boxing fans need the 2 channels fighting to show the best action week in week out and for now thats what looks like is happening! i cant think of many decents fights that havent been on either channel since boxnation started exept the shows on channel 5 and for me its brilliant. and i save money by staying in to watch it!
