Will this new F1 deal mean Sky will have to offer Sky sports mix to other tv providers thats what i would like to know as BT did when they got the Champions league as they had to provide a certain number of free to air games

It's a good theory, but let's not forget they have pick tv on freeview so they could easily get around the free to air for British Grand Prix and place it on there as they don't specifically mention using mix as the free to air one (but they do for the promised other two)

Since then prices have gone up by Sky by 9 quid and we now have to pay for BT Sports

Cheers ofcom! Good work lads!

Nothing to do with Ofcom - it was an EC ruling that no longer applies. But the chances are that BT would have entered the market anyway regardless of the ruling in response to Sky entering the broadband market.

Just fecking great another sport I follow now becomes a Sky exclusive. Shame as CH4's coverage looked pretty good. From 2019 I'll have to start developing an interest in something else.

Hope the Murdock **** choke on it. They still won't get a penny off me.

Channel 4 must be disappointed after only just winning it.

The British Grand Prix is still a crown jewel event so protected for FTA. I know that only BBC1, BBC2, ITV, CH4 and CH5 used to be covered by this. At least that was the case a few years ago, may have been amended after the digital switch over to channels with full UK coverage.

So how SKY are going to get round this is a mystery unless the legislation is changing. As far as I know PICK TV can not be picked up in certain areas.

I appreciate Wikipedia may not be accurate but according to https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ofco...ignated_Events it is not listed as a crown jewel

It is also states nothing about having to be on the those channels, just being free to air and since digital switchover pick tv would satisfy this requirement

I stand corrected about the Grand Prix

as to the channels I remember seeing it on a tender document for the FA Cup Final, will have to see if I can find it.

Interesting development, bet Sky are not happy. I do not watch many Thursday night games as generally they are not the best match ups.

It seems more and more are trying to get into the act in regards to showing sport and that is likely to raise sports rights level even higher in my book thus meaning it becomes even more expensive for sports followers in my opinion..

But in this case matches have gone from a premium channel to a FTA web channel so quite the opposite! :) Maybe VM can get an app for Twitter's Periscope service?

Do sky have the broadcast rights for TNF? If they do it may be geoblocked here then.
