The Falklands remain British because we have the means to keep them and Argentina lacks the means to take them.

In that case as long as we can defend the Falkalnds, then we are fine, still boosts our "legal" case though!

Which is what the Argies don't seem to understand.. Instead they seem to think that the UN will force the UK into talks that will ultimately gift the Falklands to Argentina..

Yep totally delusional but it keeps the Argentine voters happy and keot Fernandez in power for another 4 years

Given time it may well come to pass, it wasn't that long ago we were negotiating just that and even less time ago large parts of our American allies government were very vocal in support and assistance for their claims.

BREAKING NEWS: David Cameron refuses letter from Argentine president over sovereignty of Falkland Islands

I wonder if she'll be stupid enough to try and take the islands back by force?

If there is a vote on this subject, then I cannot see what the UN can do for Argentina

Argentine diplomats held a secret meeting with Plaid Cymru in an attempt to get support for its claim to the Falklands among British MPs.

The Plaidos sensibly told them where to stick it. I don't imagine the bereaved families of rather a lot of Welsh Guardsmen would have forgiven them.

I would be doubtful if they had any better luck with the SNP

HMS Dauntless is ready and waiting and any ship that try to attack the Falkland Islands will follow the General Belgrano, and planes will go for a swim.

Read the whole thread as it's been mentioned a couple of times, along with the capabilities of their air force, our air force, their navy and our navy.
