Re: Football Season 2013/14 & Summer Window

AVB must be sacked after the performance against Liverpool. Totally shocking.

Spurs didn't turn up, they were totally outplayed by Liverpool. And once again AVB plays Soldado up front, and Defoe stays on the bench.

Re: Football Season 2013/14 & Summer Window

Sorry Uncle Peter, AVB must go. I have supported Spurs for the past 30 years, and this is by far the worst performance l have seen from Spurs.

Spurs have spent a lot of money, and there is no difference - With Soldado, he is not performing, he is being played regular and he is not delivering, Yes he scored a hat trick the other night. But we are talking about the Europa League here.

To get Soldado moving he has to play up front with another striker ie Defoe or Adbeyeor.

Chelsea sacked him for not getting results, Levy should do the best thing and sak him and bring in a new manager quickly.

I personally would go fo Martin Jol - yes he was sacked, but l think that he was brought back, l think things could change.

I would love to see Redknapp back but l doubt it very much.

I cannot see Joe Lewis putting up wityh much longer.

Not sure it's worth firing AVB now. They gave them the money in the summer and he pretty much purchased a whole new team, these defeats aren't really acceptable but you've got to look beyond half a season to the longer term. Also at what point does Daniel Levy get questioned for the transfer and recruitment at the club?

We'll see if he gets fired or not. It depends if they still think they can make top four. If they do then they may as well get it over with now, otherwise give him the season.

Re: Football Season 2013/14 & Summer Window

The sacking of AVB is the best news for Spurs. Spurs have always been an exciting side to watch.

But Baldini should take much of the blame for this, he has brought in players that are not performing - Soldado is one of them them. He will do down as the worst striker that we have borugh. He brought back Adebayor for ONE game against his old club and then said he was injured.

We were two nil down against Liverpool, he should have taken off and played Defoe up front with Townsend.

Some of the decisions AVB has made have even made me wonder. Spurs fans have been criticised for failing to support their team, its down to the manager to make sure players perform on the pitch.

The most bizarre decision was when Loris got a neck injury and he went against medical advice and allowed Loris to continue.

You could clearly see that the medical team wanted him off, but Loris went back on.

I think that Harry, won't go back. But in the frame would be Guus Hiddink or Martin Jol, who was loved by the fans.

To be fair, at the time of appointment he was hot news, he'd flopped massively at Chelsea but that could have been a one off. It's evident from his time at Spurs that he's simply a flop in English football. Odds on for the United job then.

As for Transfers, it's the same old problem I've mentioned so many times, you simply cannot buy a tonne of players and stick them on the pitch and achieve success. United don't do it, Liverpool don't do it, Arsenal don't do it. Chelsea don't do it 'Anymore'. You add a player here and there each window and build upon that. Man City were guilty of it in their early financial boost.

In fact AVB did the same thing at Chelsea too... The guy is an idiot. His tactics make no sense, his starting 11 choices at Chelsea were laughable, his claims Drogba and co were past it and Lampard needed to go blew right up in his face when Drogba and co brought home the Champions League.

AVB hinted that he wasn't responsible for the purchases the other day. Never rated him, who couldn't win the Portuguese league with hulk and moutiniho in the team and it's typical they sack him says before the hammers play them, hoddle to return is being touted

He also did pretty well with Spurs last year but Levy went and sold their best player and, by the sounds of it, mostly replaced him with purchases he and Bandini wanted. If you want someone to rebuild a squad you need to give them more than a few months. Liverpool were 7th last year and Arsenal had what was probably their worst season in a long time (after selling Van Persie) and both clubs are doing well this season. It takes time to build a squad. AVB may not be the manager they needed but it was Levy's decision to hire him, to allow them to 'build for the future', and the moment CL is getting away from them he bottles it.

At best, unprotected contracts are what they want by the sounds of it, thing is though these changes never benefit the majority of players, just the few at the very top and if their moan is about what happens to players elsewhere in the world how is tinkering with European transfer system going to help, this could wreck the game in south America to.

clowns!

They want footballers to be treated as normal workers basically, they can give a notice period and walk away, they can currently do this if their contract is unprotected (3 years for under 25's 2 years for over) but the club still gets compensated depending on how long is left on the deal, this would change to. They say it's because footballers around the world are being shafted but they've ignored that south American and Brazilian football in particular relies on transfer fees to pay wages and they've also ignored lower league footballers being kicked out of a club because they have a long term injury.

If he hadn't have done it..there would not be a ban.

And if someone else was banned for it, does it not mean they need to increase penalty? Obviously the threat of a 1 game ban meant nothing to him, as he did it :)

Didn't Ronaldo and Bale sign new deals not long before they went to Madrid? This has happened so Liverpool get more money, he will be off in the summer, the fact he isn't cup tied in Europe means it could even be January.

Bale always wanted to go to RM but Suarez is very happy and highly paid so why would he want to leave a club where he is cherished to go to other clubs where he is not going to be number one in the pecking order.

Unless there is now a clause to let him leave if they don't make Champions League and/or someone meets a target price.

Does that mean you forgive Joey Barton?

I recognise suarez talent, but that doesn't mean I have to like his attitude.

I try not to confuse my generally positive feelings for my team and my feelings for people who play for my team.

People get initial respect from me...they then lose it if do wrong, and can only earn it back.

And sorry, but I would never call scoring goals as earning my respect, when i balance it against what they have done (in this case, worse, and not that long ago)

If he suddenly turns a new leaf..and over a sustained period shows it, then he might gain my respect as a person.

But, perhaps i have too high a standard (I just don't think so :))

Just because l support Liverpool has nothing to do with it as l have forgiven players who in the past has made their own mistakes and my motto in life is to forgive and forget as life is too short to hold grudges against people who have wronged in the past.

Not sure where all this forgiveness BS has come from, there's nothing to forgive imo, I don't like evra or Chelsea so seeing them getting some grief didn't exactly spoil my day and his goals have been enjoyable.
