Hi Chloe, https://www.cableforum.uk/images/local/2018/06/2.gif I'm Jo. I have no idea why Daddy should think I would be interested in shoes. https://www.cableforum.uk/images/local/2018/06/3.gif I think your shoe buy from yesterday shows great potential. :)

Over the years I may, in passing, have talked about shoes, and the fact that my husband built me a dedicated shoe storage area and a display shelf may have made some people think that I am a shoe addict.

These days I seem to spend most of my time wearing Doc Martens and my latest pair, Pascal Wanderlust, are quite summery. If can sneak them past John I may treat myself to the Jagger version for my birthday.

Growing old disgracefully is fun. https://www.cableforum.uk/images/local/2018/06/4.gif

Argh, lucky you - my hubby would never do anything like that for me. Or knowing him, he would build one with the ability to only put shoes with stiletto heels in the rack / area, ergo gently encouraging me to stop wearing flats like I do maybe once every other week or so.

They look very bright / patterned...I think they are beginning to become like skirts - trend is very purple / mauve these days.

50!!!!! Don't stop misbehaving at 50. I'm 70 soon and I don't ever intend to grow old gracefully. What ever time I have left I intend to fight for the right to live life on my terms. :)

I worry that I am mutton dressed up as lamb too much though. Doesn't help that in the area I live everyone starts behaving 70 when they hit 40!

I don't think that I behave in the most dignified way at the best of times, lol.

Lol, if my husband saw this he might try trade me in for you if you are so considerate like that. I think I have gone through over 50 pairs in the last 3 years or so. (Not counting how many heels I have replaced etc - though this place has terrible and uneven ground) and the fact that my feet don't grow in my late 20s etc.

He thinks that I go overboard, lol.

He returned it due to their error / but usually they are quite expensive - do you get them retail or wholesale? They just don't work out cost effective usually and unfortunately we live in kind of a hard water area. :(

If you can afford it and have space a Harvey's water softener is brilliant. We have one and they do work. Ours is dual tank and metered which basically means it's like 2 softeners in one case. It meters the water flow and periodically switches to the other tank while it freshens (with salt - 2kg blocks) the previous tank. Other units can use a timer and one tank which means at some time in the day whether you've used water or not it will freshen itself (again with salt) and while it's doing that you get hard water.
(We are biased to Harvey as we can get free salt for referrals but they don't do offers other than interest free credit and you can trials it for 3 months - essentially rent it for 3 months, if you then buy you get the rental off the purchase.)

I once bought some paper at Staples. I bought a crate/box but they scanned the wrong barcode and only charged me for a ream which I didn't discover 'til I got home. I phoned them to rectify but they thanked me for my honesty and let me have my "discount". I guess it was harder to charge the extra than it was worth the effort to do so.

I thought my butcher block at 6cm thick was pretty substantial. If you're serious about cooking then a good end grain block is essential for stability and to protect expensive knives.

If you think that's expensive I found some more than double that. And you can get proper standing units (pedestal) for a heck of a lot of money.

I did look at some from the US but while the price was generally good once you add postage and import duty at around £30 each it worked out much more expensive - curse you dropping value of sterling.

21.5" monitor, AOC E2270 (Cex, price was ok) - controls are weird, single button for everything, plus an install settings app that only works when it feels like it... finally got it to an acceptable brightness / contrast, not helped by the one button setting rolling one way only from 0-100/0-100... and the contrast / brightness not interacting as expected - contrast seems to amplify brighter parts without doing much to darken the darks

I've only heard it in Scotland (where I grew up), and have never heard it in any part of England where I've lived/worked (most of England).

It's one of colloquialisms that doesn't seem to travel from Scotland, like -

Greetin - crying
Wains - children
Winching - kissing
Ginger - pop / fizzy drinks
Piece - sandwich
Gallus - impressive/cheeky

Also used in the North East, I was often sent for messages as a child by my mother. Though her mother was from the Scottish borders so maybe she learnt it from her.

Just asked the wife she said her mother said the same to her if she wanted something from the shop (no Scottish connection).

Roshield rat trap station box never in my wildest dreams ever did I think I would see a wild rat never mind having one in my garden. Hubby and I both hate the thought of killing any living thing but needs must :(

I actually saw it last night bold as brass walking along our boundary fence and I can't believe how big it was honestly it's like a huge brown gerbil on steroids.

What hubby and I have been advised to do is kill one and take photo as evidence then this can be used for a later date if needed (that will be hubby's job by the way) then once we have photo evidence of dead rat in trap, then once we have a picture then we have to set both station boxes with poison (that is also hubby's job) as we have been told that more than likely it's coming from a nest near by then hopefully we will have no more problems once both station boxes have been baited with the blue pellets that we have been provided with then hopefully job done fingers crossed and if rats do return then and only then the council will take action against our neighbour in where I assume they will tell her that she needs to maintain her garden but knowing my neighbour she will do nothing and that is where my worry starts as I really cannot cope with another court case my son has said that the council will do this and I shouldn't worry he also said that if this were to happen and she does not comply with the council then the council will carry out the work and bill her even though we both own our property as this will be classed as an enviromental health issue.

We have had it confirmed that the rats nest is not in our garden and although the gentleman can't put it in writing his exact words were that he would bet his wages the nest is in next doors garden due to the coverage her garden provides well that's one description of it I suppose I personally like just to say it's a total dump.

As you can see from pictures my garden swing will remain covered until my new garden ornament is removed along with the uninvited guests so it looks like we won't be enjoying our garden this summer I have tried to load a picture of my garden but unfortunately I had to crop the picture but hopefully you will get the idea my garden is mainly monobloc with raised planters at the back.

I'm now beginning to really resent my neighbour and the trouble she brings as I really can't enjoy my garden atm and I can't even get the enjoyment of feeding the birds as we have had to remove all feed from the bird feeder.

We used to really look forward to the summer sitting on our garden swing with me reading my book with a G&T and hubby with his beer, or looking out the kitchen window seeing the birds come to the bird feeder, is really too much to ask or expect that one should be able to enjoy their garden and that neighbouring land is kept to a reasonable standard!

I suppose this post should really be in moans and pet hates  sorry for the long post but I need to vent somewhere and hubby is like me totally miserable at what has happened.

I write with a local singer/songwriter Nash. We gig about once every couple of months (when our live drummer and bass player wake up) and do the odd local radio show.

Also play the odd gig on keys with a covers band: weddings, bar mitzvahs, funerals type of thing ;)

@MLM: I've scoured the Observers book of euphemisms and drawn a blank on banned peter. Whatever it is must be really dodgy :P

Extra jigsaw blades for my recently gifted jigsaw.
Had the jigsaw for a combined fathers day/early birthday, now working through a list of jobs that required same!

A pack of Scotch buffalo burgers in Lidl. Looks interesting.

Several annuals in B&Q to go in a sunny raised bed.

I'm hoping the one I bought does the trick, as I will be the one using it, it is lightweight and no cords to cut through, special offer on Ebay from the argos shop 10% off. Here's is a video to give you an idea Nash.

Are the jeans quite low cut? - hence the 'hedge' trimmer?

I hope your cordless one is Ok, looks good on the video, I thought cordless one would be a hassle, having to charge it up etc, Let me know how you like yours, Any more advice from anyone else .

Buffalo or water buffalo. We can get the latter at our farmers market both meat and burgers. Interesting if they actually have buffalo - not had that for years. Elephant is tasty too, but that would draw too many complaints!

I just checked the pack and it says Buffalo everywhere except right at the bottom on the back where it's Scottish Water Buffalo.

So not actual Bison burgers. :D

Never had that yet but we have tried quite a few different meats including many exotic varieties.
