Well if that's the case then we would have 10 people sent off each weekend.

I know this is a popular meme amongst other supporters but Arsenal have quite a few British players in the squad. Today Arsenal had: Gibbs,
Wilshere, Oxlade-Chamberlain and Walcott all starting with Ramsey and
Jenkinson on the bench.

Remember he has just come back from a long term injury saaf so it will take time for him to return to his best.

Depends how well rated you think he has been in the first place. He is however very good. Excellent movement and passing. More of a Paul Scholes than a Steven Gerrard.

Re: Football Season 2012/2013

I have seen him play a few times now (albeit on MOTD and SKY), some live, and some hi-lights. To me he's more Joey Barton then Paul Scholes. I accept I am watching as he returns from injury, but I've not seen much to impress so far.

:erm:

Must have seen him on bad days. Even after his injury his passing has been crisp and calm under pressure. He is certainly far better than Joey Barton..

thenry 14-01-2013 15:09

Re: Football Season 2012/2013

Joey Barton  no he isn't anything like Joey Barton. And he's not overrated. What are you expecting? him to do everything himself?

Damien 14-01-2013 15:13

Re: Football Season 2012/2013

The thing is the term 'overrated' is relative. Is he the best player in the world? No. Is he one of England and Arsenal's better players? Yes. It just depends how he develops from here on out, a lot of the excitement is what he could be rather than what he is for now.

Ok, maybe Joey BArton might be a tad unfair, but I would never describe him as being calm under pressure. I think he's pretty hot headed and will get sent off quite a few times in his career.

I expected to see a midfielder who can influence the game, take on players and score and create goals. Maybe an attacking player like Rooney, spmeone with a little creativity. I don't know, maybe I was expecting too much.

Under pressure with the ball. I.E His passing is calm and collected whilst being pressed, a quality that Fabregas had as well. He can move the ball precisely and out of what seems a difficult situation. Xavi has this although obviously Xavi is better at it. This is something England's other midfielder have lacked often, the creativity and composure on the ball.

Quote:

You're describing a generation of England midfielders, the Lampards and the Gerrards. Wilshere is more akin to Scholes and Fabregas. Just because he isn't bombing around from box to box doesn't mean he isn't creative or influencing the game. He is more about short, productive and incisive passing whilst moving the players around in doing so not captivating runs or demonstrations of power. He can influence the game in the same way Fabregas did and he is certainly creative.

He cannot do it as consistently as Fabregas or Scholes. He has less experience and he has only just turned 21. Fabregas couldn't do it as consistently until he was about 23/24. Basically the last couple of seasons with us.

I'd care if he goes to QPR but Aubameyang as a second choice works for me, that and he's scored more goals than Remy this year.

doubt it. why do that now or have that leaked during the season.

Dunno. Not especially convinced either. Sky Italia don't have the same track record as Sky Sports either.

Also..http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/foo...-referees.html

Quote:

Stats from Opta show that in the 15 Premier League games Arsenal have played when Dean is officiating, they have triumphed just once, making it a winning average of just seven per cent.

It represents a massive contrast with the Premier League’s current top four. Both Manchester clubs, Chelsea and Tottenham have recorded significantly better results under Dean’s watch.

The title winners from the past three years recorded winning averages between 63 and 67 per cent, while even Spurs can claim a 50 per cent success record when the Wirral-born referee has been in charge across a similar amount of games.
CONSPIRACY!

QPR allowed Remy to have a Relegation release clause in his contract..

£80,000 a week, £8+ million transfer fee and walking away at the end of the season...priceless, screaming Pompey and Southampton all over again.

Yes Harry is very Contradictory and he has a history of it as just ask Portsmouth fans what they think of him.

Gamble well worth taking if his goals keep them up.

I don't think so, they've weakened one of their rivals who also sold their best player, have a get out clause if they go down and secured a top class striker with the ability to keep them up. No gamble at all imo and good to see they're not just going to lay down and accept relegation, if done of those players showed the same fight they wouldn't even be down there.

The clause still means the £8 million or so is paid as well as the additional wages. Considering they look to have a good chance of the drop then that is a lot of money if they then drop out the Premier League. It's a gamble and a risky one to lose, they wouldn't the first club to over extend themselves.

Isn't it this season the amount of money they will receive for staying up goes up massively? So staying up is more important than ever, if signing him helps towards that it will be well worth it.

Indeed Leeds , Portsmouth and many others have paid the price for over extending themselves.

eight million isn't much of a gamble when TV revenues are going up 71% & I think they'll be fine, put a bet on for them to stay up the day Harry was appointed.

Neither of them had a billionaire owner and in Leeds case they wee banking on champions league qualification not simply staying up.

TV Revenues only going up if you're in the league next year. Like I said it's high-risk, high-rewards. If they stay up it's an excellent signing. If they go down then they don't have that money and have spent a lot this season.
