I don't know what kind of medical condition you have Den, but you would be amazed how many people with (excuse the phrase) 'incapacities' there are, that take holidays abroad.

My 9 year old westie is ill.

She was fine last night, then about midnight, she was sick everywhere. She didn't sleep well, and is not well today, so we took her to the vets. She has apparently either eaten something she shouldn't, or has a viral infection (one, which if left untreated, can be fatal). The vet asked for her to be left for observation. Hopefully, she'll be well soon.

So, I have the worry over whether she'll be well. However, whether she is or not, I have the worry of a bill that will probably be around £400 to £500 for treatment, £180 of which is a deposit I had to pay today.

That's from the Moans and Pet Hates thread, but there is a conclusion to that story that is not a moan or hate, but does involve a pet.

When I took the westie to the Emergency Vet on Saturday, he said there could have been two things that caused her symptoms. He wouldn't be able to find out which without blood tests, which he would be unable to do before Monday (today).

So, he gave her a broad spectrum of antibiotics, and asked us to leave her in for a couple of nights.

Thankfully, the antibiotics worked, and she is currently upstairs, happy to be home, but unhappy that I left her is a strange place. Also unhappy that the first thing that I did when I got home was bath her (something which she doesn't like at the best of times, but she smelled awful).

But she's home now. The cost was nearer £500 than £400, but thankfully the vet did give her a broad spectrum antibiotics, had he waited until today to get the tests done, she would likely not have survived.

Just been to see "We will rock you" - great music, wooden acting, cheesy script, but strangely enough, very enjoyable and good fun.

If you think of it as a panto set to "Queen's Greatest Hits", you wouldn't be far wrong.....:D

Not sure why they cast a lookylikey of the lead singer of Heaven 17 (as he was in the 80s) as the baddy's sidekick, though.....;)

Well done Nash on your nice win but its a bit strange that for 3 numbers on the National Lottery you would have only won a tenner so perhaps its time for me to have a little flutter on the National Health Lottery as well.

I do the same numbers every week and have used them since day one. I have won the odd £10 and I know I should give up but I also know that the first week I don't enter my numbers will win the jackpot. Maybe we could do a Giving up Lotto support thread. :D

Yes l do a 49ers which involves family and friends and whoever has the bonus ball wins the £49 and also whoever gets their 6 numbers first usually wins about £400 which runs for about 8 weeks but typical of me l had to share it with someone else when l won.:)

My daughter (and her fiancé) have just had an offer accepted for a nice little two-bedroom semi they are keen on buying for their first home - result!

I had some input to the "haggling", so they have got the carpets, curtains/blinds, kitchen white goods, and loose wardrobes in the second bedroom included in the offer - they paid £1,250 more than their initial offer, but £10k off the asking price.

Re: The Happy Thought Thread Part 4

Yes when you are in hospital for long periods you never think you are going to get out as l myself was in for 6 months for one of my stays so when mum gets home it will take a little while for her to adapt again as her mobility is not what it was like before she went into hospital.

Fantastic news den. Fingers crossed that your Mum being in her own home will give her the encouragement to adapt to her reduced mobility. It's surprising what we are capable of when regaining our independence is the goal. Hugs to you both.

Mum has finally arrived home after 10 weeks in hospital and she is very happy that she is home but it is going to take her a little while to find her feet again.

So pleased for you both dilli. Now you and Natalie can just enjoy the rest of the preparations for your Wedding Day.

Now I wonder if I should buy a new pair of shoes, I shall want to look my best as I raise my glass to you both on the day even if it is from my sofa here up North. :D
