Re: General TiVo Discussion Part 2
My personal favourite iPlayer client is the one made for XBMC. Fast, HD-capable, generally stable as long as you choose the correct server.

Re: General TiVo Discussion Part 2
Had my TIVO box installed this afternoon to replace my V+ box. Have to admit that I'm REALLY dissapointed with the TIVO Iplayer App. Used it this afternoon and all OK (including HD), went to use it tonight and it was unwatchable, just kept stuttering all the time. Watched it on my freeview box in the end.
Considering it's supposed to have a dedicated 10mg line, it's pretty poor and the V+ box wiped the floor with it. Let's hope it gets sorted, as one of the things I mentioned on this forum before I had the TIVO installed was about the new Iplayer, with digital fanatic answering that there was no buffering..... Other than that, no other real issues. As I have mentioned elsewhere, SD picture is worse than V+, but that issue isn't enough in it self to want me to move back to the V+ box. Although the series links are now starting to get on my nerves a bit :erm: |

Re: General TiVo Discussion Part 2
Digital Fanatic, I'll keep an eye on the iPlayer and see how it goes. It was playing the HD picture at the time and not SD (should have tried the SD to see if that was stuttering as well!)
To be honest, I'll most likely stick with the TIVO as I needed a PVR that was able to record more HD as the V+ was filling up to quickly. If i'd had paid for the 1TB though, I'd be alot more unhappier. The other issue I'm having is with the series link and recording functions. I have no issues with adjusting my own padding settings, or in telling it when it should delete the my recordings (i.e. never! - I'll delete them myself thankyou). In fact it's not really a series link issue at all, it's how the box decide when to record. For example, if I record something at 8pm and then have 3 programs set to record at 9pm, one of these programs will either not be recorded (but be recorded at another time if this is possible which is fine), or on the the recorded programs will be clipped (if the program is not repeated). The V+ box (and my freeview recorder) if it has one program se to record at 8pm and two programs set for 9pm, the first recodring would stop at 9pm and the recordings would start at 9pm - how difficult is this? At the moment its almost a waste of the 3rd tuner! Let's hope Virgin keep working away at this and make TIVo the piece of kit it should be. |

Think about if you only had 2 recordable tuners... you couldn't record the things you are recording now. :) |
