Someone has posted that there is no search or shuffle. How can that be excellent? Sounds badly sub standard to me.

Spotify may have got me to upgrade from freebie to the premium subscription, but with the lack of those features, that won't happen and I'll just keep using my Napster 5 pounds per month with 5 free tracks p/m subscription on the PC.

It is a brilliant app. I think the idea is around sharing YOUR music on a external device (TiVo in this case). Can you search on iPhone/Andriod?

Yes you can.

I am sure the app on TiVo will be improved over time.

Thanks Stephen, so that means it can be added at some stage. I still love the app though :)

The Boxee spotify app doesn't have Shuffle or Search either - http://www.spotify.com/uk/blog/archi...market/?page=1

No search and shuffle on a device meant for use as a music source in your home is plain crazy. and as Tivo is not portable, Spotify on it should be a home music service.

I find it very surprising that you're defending these lack of basic features :)

On about apps and innovation I believe VM and Sky should be applauded at how well there both improving the end user experience. I used TIVO last night and had a good play around with its many superb functions and I was blown away how good it was there were a few minor niggles but nothing major , likewise I updated the Sky Go app on my ipad to find they had added Anytime+ with On Demand movies which is a great feature with downloadable content to come all in all a big well done to both companies and keep it up.

Yes, they are both making some great products recently.

Yes most definitely in the last couple of years the end user experience has improved out of all recognition.

Having Spotify access on TiVo is meant to compliment accessing it on your phone or PC not to be the only place you access it. So having ready made playlists will help.

I am sure a search feature will be added to the app over time.

Why?

If I'm in the lounge listening to music, through good qality audio equipment, I don't want my PC on (to eliminate distracting fan noise) and I shouldn't have to use another device such as a phone, to supplement a badly designed app.

Why are VM staff defending an app that is so clearly lacking essential, routinely used features?

Well l am not one of the VM staff and l am very happy with the app and l am quite hard to please but perhaps the problem is your expectations of things is far too high.

I am not defending the app. I am simply stating Spotify has been around for ages on other platforms and I'm happy with them. TiVo app is just a bonus extra for me as its just out and I've already been a spotify subscriber for months.

My Mac is silent and has a good speaker system attached and if listening to music would be loud enough to drown out any fan noise ;-) Also good earphones for my phone means spotify on the go. For most people they will use the PC and phone apps most of the time where as via TiVo will probably be for occasional use.

just had a Tivo 500mb installed. Picture coming through but everything I choose to look at requires a Pin. Also channel guide is completely wrong. Is it just a matter of waiting for some form of download to complete ?
