Re: Coming soon to Virgin TV (2013) Vol. 6.
If you look at what the cost of 30Mb broadband and M Phone should cost as a package, I'm only saving £6 per month. According to the email confirmation I got my package should have been £29.49 (before the £1 per month increase coming in Feb) but as it is i'm only paying £23.49

Anything below these prices, for only one or two services and already little revenue to Virgin Media, should be considered as doing well. The claim made by nicko that the discount given for adding a landline is around the same as for paying annually in advance is clearly wrong. As I stated above, the extra cost of adding a landline to BB 30Mb is £6.49, considerably less than the £10 per month of annual in advance (goes up to £10.67 after the price increase). |

No it's not, broadband is not charged at £25 if you have a landline, it's charged at something like £16 + phone line £16 = £32 approx. if you then pay phone upfront you can save £6 approx = £26 which is roughly what this fella has been offered to stay with Virgin. |

Arithmetic here in Scotland is a law of nature. You are paying £25 per month for a BB service. If you add a landline, the charge becomes £31.49, meaning that the additional charge for the landline is £6.49. How it may be displayed on the bill is immaterial. Someone paying £25 for a BB service pays £6.49 extra for the landline and, using the commutative law of arithmetic, would only save £6.49 if they chose to cancel the landline. To show how your argument is flawed. Would you get the BB for £16 if you cancelled your £16 landline in your example? No. |

No it's not flawed at all just accountants playing with figures, I said they were giving him the same discount for his loyalty that he could get by paying the line rental upfront (12months) which you disputed. Just work out the total cost of both packages and see if they are not virtually the same cost. |

Some of the current special offers aren't that special when you break them down. Not saying they aren't worth having, just that people need to be certain they're worthwhile before they recontract. |

The first part about the £6.49 is correct the second part is NOT the way that Virgins pricing works, if you pay landline upfront it doesn't cost £35 a month for BB/phone.it works out like this Total bill £31.49 - 14.95 (phone) + £10 upfront phone = £26.54 which is broadly equivalent cost to the other fellas package with his loyalty discount, with as I said a similar amount of discount. |
Re: Coming soon to Virgin TV (2013) Vol. 6.
