You can make it go to the list of all programs/apps instead and you right click for shut down options, don't know what else you use your start menu for.

That's all you'd see though, basically just a full screen 'show all programs'.

So has any confirmed they have blocked the 3rd party start button apps in this update. I might try sending Micros$ft an email but they will probably not reply. ????

So it is nothing like you have in the normal start menu which would show your installed programs such as those you install after you have installed windows, ie office or games like BF3

What a sodding joke and here was i thinking they might see sense. If only BF3 would run in linux i would not need windows. Still i will never pay for another Microsoft product anymore after this.

Just got another laptop with win 8 on it and I actually don't mind some of the new features on it. I do miss the start button on it but it has the 3rd party app that does nearly the same thing.

Saying that I don't think I'd ever put it on my main desktop as I don't think it suits desktop PCs at all.

There is a Start8 Beta out that works with the preview if you need to use it.

I quite like it to be honest but it does wipe off your programmes. Not happy about Kaspersky Pure 3 not being compatible, neither is the Norton Identity Toolbar.

I have a copy of NIS 2013 I'm just trying to install instead of KP3...
