So has any confirmed they have blocked the 3rd party start button apps in this update. I might try sending Micros$ft an email but they will probably not reply. ????

Just got another laptop with win 8 on it and I actually don't mind some of the new features on it. I do miss the start button on it but it has the 3rd party app that does nearly the same thing.
Saying that I don't think I'd ever put it on my main desktop as I don't think it suits desktop PCs at all. |

Classic Shell 3.5.x doesnt work correctly in Wndows 8.1 Preview, but latest version 3.7.1 works ! that's from another windows 8 forum |

I quite like it to be honest but it does wipe off your programmes. Not happy about Kaspersky Pure 3 not being compatible, neither is the Norton Identity Toolbar.
I have a copy of NIS 2013 I'm just trying to install instead of KP3... |
