FireFox + HTTPS Everywhere + Ghostery = :D

VPN + FireFox + HTTPS Everywhere + Ghostery = :D ;) :erm:

The result of TPB blocked in the UK

  • 12 Million more vists in the first couple of days
  • 15,000 proxy sites put up specifically for TPB
  • A new IP address, do they have to go back to the courts to get these banned?

The last point is worth keeping an eye on. What if the courts give the BPI a method of adding any IP address or domain name they choose?

Youngsters these days* nothing but a bunch of lazy layabouts and they want all their stuff for free.**

Crazy, crazy and just downright bizarre. This is also interesting, they're trying to sell you something so ...

"I think it's great. It's like a legend [that's] partly true. I heard that he made, like, 700 copies. And I think that's true. He went into a dub house and had a bunch of dubs made and sent it around. But he was one of many people that were copying it, and it was spreading through a lot of people. It wasn't just George, I don't think."
Matt Stone and Trey Parker*** talking about George Clooney 'pirating' South Park. Surely George Clooney of all people would know that 'piracy' would mean they lose income by his actions. Surely going to a video reproduction studio and having 700 copies made would be a criminal offence which under the current climate would mean either George Clooney would still be in prison or he'd be penniless and on the streets maybe even penniless and in prison.

* If you don't have time to watch all of it have a listen to what he says at around 15:30, it gives an insight into what politicians think when they hear the word internet.

** I hope people realise that's meant to be sarcastic.

*** If you have time read the whole article

I don't know why you think that was sarcastic. It was 100% accurate; though it may not be confined to "young people". You only need to look at the fuss surrounding TPB to prove the point.

If people didn't "want all their stuff for free" then TPB wouldn't be so popular; and neither would BT (and certain binary newsgroups for that matter.)

Yes, I know, it's not all "illegal" stuff, but I'm willing to bet the vast majority is :)

Cinderella - the story was first published by Charles Perrault in Histoires ou contes du temps passé in 1697

Sleeping Beauty - first published by Charles Perrault in Histoires ou contes du temps passé in 1697

Snow White - is a fairy tale known from many countries in Europe, the best known version being the German one collected by the Brothers Grimm in 1812

The Little Mermaid - written by by the Danish poet and author Hans Christian Andersen in 1837

The Princess and the Frog - Grimms Fairy Tales

Pocahontas - Captain John Smith 1706.

Rapunzel/Tangled - The Grimm Brothers' story is an adaptation of the fairy tale Persinette by Charlotte-Rose de Caumont de La Force originally published in 1698.

Then Disney claimed copyright over them and extended copyright so no one else can build on what they have done. Isn't it funny how it's legal for corporations to steal from the public domain yet when they feel it's their work being stolen they need to have laws changed to prevent it happening even if it means walking all over our civil liberties.

You appear to be confusing the copyright of the Disney productions of those stories, with general copyright.

Disney do not own the overall rights to any of the examples you cited, only their productions (and ancillary marketing/sales products).

Pretty sure your "civil liberties" don't include the right to steal stuff

The more they try to block it the more it will be circumnavigated and that's a FACT. I don't use Torrents and i don't use the TPB, but i will do anything i can to ensure we have a non censored internet.

My dog just raised his head from his crotch, stopped making a slurping noise and barked out instructions for me to post this.

He also barked that it was funny how someone seems unable to understand when a person is being extradited to a foreign country to face charges under their legal system, even though they have not broken any laws in their home country, they still don't see it as an issue of civil liberties.

Just like every man it seems I've got a clever dog ;)

AVG now seem to own the copyright on this Rick Astley video. Anyone get the feeling this is getting silly?

You can imagine some copyright lawyer running up to you in the street and hitting you with a claim for money because you were singing a song his client owns

These people want to charge garages, restaurants etc. for having a radio playing in the background. They've actually taken people to court for doing it.
