Yes. I was just about to post something similar.

Except that Sky don't have the Tivo ;)

"Other options" are available...

Also, if the viewing figures on these first run shows are lower than an ITV3 repeat or a CBeebies show, that may be an indicator.

(Boardwalk Empire - 772k, Bluebloods - 517k; Doc Martin 823k & Charlie and Lola 539k)

Come on Hugh I took you as an intelligent man , ITV3 is available on freeview , Atlantic is Sky only at the moment. Judging by the amount on here and other forums , plus comments on news sites , I would say there's more would like it than wouldn't , but you are right its not concrete.

I have to disagree with you there.

I like HBO shows (Band of Brothers, Sopranos, etc etc) - however, as they are only TV shows, and not a replacement kidney, I am not that bothered that I can't get to see them immediately.

Swings, roundabouts, etc...;)

That wasn't my point - you stated that Carl was not in "the majority"; how can viewing figures of under 1 million be "the majority".

btw, not my fault/responsibility that Sky Atlantic isn't available to a wider audience - that lies with those who made that decision.....;)

(as you can see from my post above, I actually like HBO - I just don't have the option to watch them, like the majority of viewers (hee hee, see what I did there.....:D)).

I admit I've only just recorded my first couple of shows off Atlantic one being The Pacific and the other being Game of Thrones.

No but a premium HD subscriber with TIVO pays 10.00 so call it what you want , admittedly a customer with XL is better off.

Which is me so I only pay a premium of £3 versus £10 Sky and if I wanted to stay with V+ my premium would be £0.

I am also of the opinion that while VM have launched Tivo with its 1Tb and 500MB boxes with a £3/month fee, I anticipate a base function box with no monthly fee to reflect their plans to replace all boxes with Tivo based software eventually. Would expect features currently available on Tivo to be disabled to do this (e.g. no wish lists, no suggestions), in fact with the comment made by VM of saying they can install Tivo software on the Cisco non-PVR HD only boxes, that is actually a necessity.

Tivo has only just been launched so ahead of the game here, but may just be the way forward for VM.

Doesn't that go straight to Sky, though?

(could be wrong).

It is not VMs fault as it is SKY that has set the charges ( no doubt VM will be taking a little of it as well )
