Messi has proven it in the Champions League more than enough. That includes teams from the 'greatest league in the world too'.

I think the palyer who should be named footballer of the year at this stage is the cheating Suerez of Liverpool for the deliberate handball he did in the FA Cup.

He should be named Maradona 2, and Liverpool should be ashamed of themself for standing up for him.

The FA should be watching the video of the game and order an immediate replay.

very true. being in a stress free environment would be a good start.

i wouldnt personally take anything anyway from Messi for being on HGH during childhood. clubs have all sorts of vits, meds. not saying illegal just saying enhancements are going on today.

The ticket prices are the biggest concern at the club as far as I am concerned. It's the worst aspect of management at the club. We know we don't have the policy to pay the top transfer fees and wages so why charge the most for fans?

At the same time there are other circumstances. London is more expensive generally, Spurs and Chelsea are not too far behind us when it comes to ticket prices. Additionally Manchester City are partly to blame for the drastic wage inflation in recent years that is causing clubs to have to get more income from ticket revenue. It's fine for City fans who get to watch the world's best players as the cost is soaked up by their billionaire owners instead of being passed on the fans. It's gives them the luxury of lecturing Arsenal about ticket prices.

Spot on.

When a club is in financial trouble, I can't belive they are preferential creditors treated the same as other football debts.

what about when 'x' player wants to recoup the fee paid to the agent by asking for more money from the club? just another loophole that would happen in my opinion.

I don't think it will. Agents do need to be controlled more but the clubs are responsible as are the fans. Wages have gone up 38% since 2009. This is not a sustainable state of affairs and it raises the wage bill everywhere down the leagues. Clubs want to attract the best players, players bully their clubs, the fans demand the players and so on. Are Arsenal fans telling Walcott to get lost over his wage demands? Did United fans tell Rooney to sod off when he wanted 200k or he is going to City? A club that clamps down will lose their players and their fans. The game is rigged.

This is why it needs FIFA to take action and ban the paying of agents by clubs. if a player wants an agent he can pay him.

Yes as THenry i'm sure players will try and get round this but with them footing the ball maybe they will start to wise up or even listen to others instead of the sycophantic agents who just leech of them for money.

Half the time players want a new contract all the time is because then the agent keeps getting a cut of any new deal

I hope thats the reaction.

Clubs offer overall packages to players. By that I mean clubs have PR links and these are noted when players are making choices of where to sign. Players look at overall enhancements such as player sponsors. Theres no need for agents. The clubs can do it all. If theres any misconduct then they the players have the PFA to fall back on.

More from David Ornstein on Theo Walcott:

Despite suggestions to the contrary, there have been no formal talks between Arsenal and Walcott's representatives since August, when he rejected a fresh five-year contract worth £75,000-a-week (he currently earns £60,000-a-week).

"However, his stance has softened since being given a run of starts as Arsenal's central striker and, crucially, he does not want to leave the club he joined in 2006. Arsenal are increasingly confident he will extend his stay at Emirates Stadium.

Now that the footballing issues have been resolved, if a compromise can be reached on his salary and image rights, it is likely Walcott will sign a new contract. His representatives are expecting Arsenal to call them to the negotiating table in the coming days and, provided a suitable offer is made, this seemingly never ending saga could finally be put to bed.

Oh dear. On the one hand, I have a soft spot for Newcastle (don't know why though) but on the other would love for Pardew to fail. I rate him as highly as Mick McCarthy and Steve McLaren as a manager.

Re: Football Season 2012/2013

Remy to Arsenal apparently, wouldn't put anything on it at the minute, same paper claimed he was in Newcastle the other day having a medical

This Remy talk is starting to get boring, looks like we'll have to wait for the player himself to say where he's going (Eden Hazard all over again)

We'll have to wait for Pardew to confirm if the Colo thing is true, if it is then it's a tough spot for both teams, He's still got about 3 years on his contract and Newcastle won't be allowing their best CB to move for nothing in the market when you take into account the club in question simply won't be able to afford him.

Jonas and Cabaye return tomorrow with Ben Arfa and the rest of the injury list now back in training, so it's not all doom for the toon.

Cabaye is what the team is being built around now either way, hanging onto the likes of Cabaye & Ben Arfa is crucial.

All I ask for is 3 signings, a CB, another midfielder and a striker, the first and latter are the most important.

Let's see how the colo business unfolds then. Loan move with them paying his wages, freeing up a nice chunk to sign a few players at least as Colo is the highest paid Newcastle player.

Update: Word just got around on the usual social networking sites and so that Newcastle have made a bid for Gaetan Bong, Papers are starting to pick this up as well, adds more to the colo story since Bong is indeed a CB, strengthening or replacing?

Confirmed then: Valenciennes president Jean-Raymond Legrand told le10sport.com: "Newcastle are very interested, they have made an offer

Pardew is confident on landing Remy but we've named the plan B as Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.

That's all I have for today.

Well Remy is no Eden Hazard and this is the same as every window. The press latch onto a few players that might be moving and write story after story about them. Remy will be linked to Arsenal, Newcastle, and I suspect they'll link Spurs to him in what will be called 'hijack attempt'. Most of these stories, if not all of them, will be made up.

Remember M'Vila? Arsenal were 99% done, then the deal was signed. Then Spurs had a last minute attempt to hijack the deal but he turned them down. In the end it emerged nobody had made a bid! Arsenal enquired but didn't follow up or speak to the player.

Newspapers just make stuff up.

Then Arsenal are fools. Walcott is not worth 90k a week. But with the way wages are going in football, the mediocre will end up on 100k plus and the likes of Shrek, donkey and Messi will end up on over 300k a week.

Sahin never demonstrated either the workrate or mobility to operate in the role he was brought in to fill. Maybe that's because he needed to improve his fitness but if that's the case then it's probably best he goes and does it on someone else's pitch for 80K a week.

Indeed MU are strong favourites for this game and are expected to win so if we get a draw then that will be a good result.

HT - Man Utd 1-0 Liverpool. Liverpool haven't played that great in first half and we should be more than 1 up.

Remy deal confirmed by OM President, finally!

Remy has just left the OM squad and is presumably en route to Newcastle to agree terms and undergo a medical, he was reported saying goodbye/hugging teammates

Glen Johnston should have been booked again and been sent off. I guess with the ref missing Vidic's header for the corner then it makes it evens well not quite but still

I agree was close when you got a goal back. The first 60 mins we dominated you and should have scored more. You should have had been down to 10 men but in the end the best team won. Oh and we beat you home and away :D:D
