All i remember is putting black bags out, then they gave us 2 wheelie bins and a green box then a few years later changed it to a green bin, and it is great and the schedule is adequate for this household.

Yeah, for the amount of 'rubbish' we now dispose of, the bin collections are adequate.

We now have a Grey bin (general waste), Red bin (plastic/cardboard), Brown bin (garden waste) and a small blue basket affair for glass.

All are emptied fortnightly. . . . eventually :D

Blue bag for house hold waste, Black box for paper and plastics. Grey container for food waste.


Glass has to be taken to a bottle bank.

I thought that too, then remembered that quite a few people in densely populated areas don't even have a garden :shocked:

I live in Trafford, Gtr Manchester and our council is ranked as one of the top 10 places in the country with recycling and composting rates at 59%

We have a green bin that takes all our garden and food waste and this is emptied every week. A half size grey bin that holds all the unrecyclable household waste and this is emptied once a fortnight. We then have a blue bin for glass and recyclable plastics and a black bin for all the paper and cardboard and these are emptied once every 4 weeks.

Sounds a lot more complicated than it is in practice.

The only real bugbear is the space the bins take up if you don't have much space.

Sometimes I just think seriously just when I thought my so called sister can not do any more that shocks me she does and I'm at a complete loss for words tbh.

She really is one selfish human being who only loves and thinks of herself.

I'm at a loss on how anyone could be so selfish, this is her best one yet.

My Dad has been given weeks to live last Friday and here is my so called sister going away this weekend giving the circumstances I think this is totally selfish imho.

My sister went to Russia when my mother had days to live, my mum told her she had to go and held on till she got back but dopey sister didn't have to listen and if I told her how it was whilst she was gone she'd be horrified, her mums last days were horrific because her son didn't know what he was doing re the services available to give nursing support plus dopey never had those precious final days with her mum. That said people deal with this in different ways and it's not this you'll judge her on but all the other occasions when she has let you down and put herself above the rest of the family, good luck with it all mate, I hope it goes as well as something as horrible as this possibly can.

weenie, I saw your post earlier but was on my way out and couldn't stop to write the post I wanted to. I guess you will know what that post would have said but I couldn't have put it better than Daddy. So sorry to hear what you had to cope with daddy. <<hugs>>

Your sister will never change sweetie, unlike her lovely sister she will never know the joy of selfless love, she will always count the cost to her for any thing that requires a moment of her time.

Hang in there sweetie, make good memories if you can ...... and remember you have people who care and want to support you.

If you all remember on July 13th 2015 my mum went into a London hospital, where she stayed for 4 months, my sister felt bad about her 2 week holiday in Spain, but my maum told her to go recharge your batteries. (Also my sister would have lost the money for the holiday, some £2,000).

She did phone my mum every night, and when I was there she made video called.

Now for my fun week.

On Thursday I had a call from my dad saying that in the morning my mum had had test at the Hospital, as they walked in the door from the hospital that called and said they found an abnormality and wanted to admit her. So I left work and raced home, grabbed some bits my mum had said she wanted, as she left in a rush.

Friday night the moved her to the cardiac ward, but she's not plugged into any monitors (so thats good).

But annoyingly the xray they want to do isn't done on the weekends, so she's still there and may not even be released on Monday.

Plus my sister is going on holiday next Tuesday, then in 5 weeks my mum, dad and I are due ourselves to go away.
