can the cable BB modem instead tivo be upgraded from 10mb to a higher speed, just like a norm VM cable BB modem?

Tivo's internal modem could be increased to 20meg.

thats ggod then so at least its not hardware limited and fimeware can increase it, thats something else that makes the box far better than sky+hd, even if sky made a box simular to tivo they wouldbe tne able to increase internal modem's speed

last night i wanted to record a program but it had already started and it also nearly ended so thought darn but then i saw it was buffered in the turner so hit record with only about 3 mins of the prog left and started watching it later on, i forgot about that feature and so far is in my fav top 5 features for the box

Wow, where did you hear about that? It's a good thing to have available to VM if they ever need a speed bump. :)

Why would it need to ? HD video even at 1080p streamed from a service such as Netflix doesn't require that sort of Bandwith.

im not saying it would need to but just wondering if it could handle it, you never thou, technology these days moves od so quick and so does streaming

but so does video compression, so you need less bandwidth not more. A few years ago it wouldn't have been possible to get decent HD on a 10meg connection.

true point buts its just good that the tivis modem can be updated

The modem does not need to be upgraded, it can do 20 meg it's the config file that it uses it that limits to 10. But as has been stated 10 on a managed network will be more then ample.

i not saying it does im saying its good that it can be if it is needed
