Works fine for me except for 2 points (a) overlap of 3 recordings of 1 at 8-9 and 2 at 9-10pm means 3 tuners used during overlap so stops me watching live TV on other channels – clipping needs to happen to drop padding on back to back programmes like V+, (b) default includes 10 episodes but I have 1TB box and if a series is more than 10 episodes and I record them all before watching, I will lose recoded episodes to the deleted folder.

So not perfect agree but padding is a basic need to make sure you capture a programme, the issues above need to be address not padding set by default, although I also think Tivo needs to allow you to set those default values not the box.

I use zero padding for any evening show when 3 tuners are sometimes needed just for the 3 shows, so no free tuners to cater for padding requirements. And, I haven't had any real issues with this method. Now, I will have to go into every recording I set up and delete the padding.

It's so obvious that different people use different padding settings, so not making the default padding user defined is, in my view:

lack of understanding/stupidity/incompetance; take your pick! :)

Interesting, so you take the risk of missing the start/end of a programme to avoid the consequences of overlapping recordings while I take the opposite approach.

As you say, everybody has a different approach so agree Tivo needs to give that user defined flexibility. However, from my perspective a padding of 0 as with V15.1 software is a default I don't want!

Forgot to mention that we use the +1 channels to avoid the impact of overlaps, be it that I have to watch a programme in SD instead of HD. That has reduced the issue of 3 tunrs having to be used when I actually want to watch another live channel to around once per month from what was once per week before. Its only for a few minutes when it does happen so we put up with that knowing with the padding set, we are virtually gauranteed to capure all of a programme even if it is running slightly late (a frequent case for BBC and Sky channel programmes I find).

Virgin Media has given out the list on when TiVo users will get their box updated.

Some areas has been moved back by the few days.

Thats a odd change to make, bump Birmingham up by a few days on its own then do huge geographical areas in very big groups.

Will the new update be preloaded on TiVo boxes that are being installed after the 25th November?
