It's so obvious that different people use different padding settings, so not making the default padding user defined is, in my view:

Interesting, so you take the risk of missing the start/end of a programme to avoid the consequences of overlapping recordings while I take the opposite approach.
As you say, everybody has a different approach so agree Tivo needs to give that user defined flexibility. However, from my perspective a padding of 0 as with V15.1 software is a default I don't want!
Forgot to mention that we use the +1 channels to avoid the impact of overlaps, be it that I have to watch a programme in SD instead of HD. That has reduced the issue of 3 tunrs having to be used when I actually want to watch another live channel to around once per month from what was once per week before. Its only for a few minutes when it does happen so we put up with that knowing with the padding set, we are virtually gauranteed to capure all of a programme even if it is running slightly late (a frequent case for BBC and Sky channel programmes I find). |
