Billc

Well, I'd ask for a better implementation of default padding; i.e., user defined. The way they've done it, as they would say in Tivo's origin country, 'just sucks'!

The rest, I welcome.

Thats a bit harsh on the implementation of the default padding but yes l agree the rest is very welcome and at the end of the day Tivo still knocks spots off anything else.

The padding isn't the issue, but having an express series link that defaults to only saving ten episodes on a box that has 1 tb of storage is crazy, and means I'll still have to do it the long way round. They've just spent a long time working on it and the end result, for me at least, will be of no benefit. Shame. Looking forward to the increase in speed very much though.

Not really IMHO. As I've said before, I reckon they used an apprentice ---- on his first day ---- to do that bit. There is no other logical explanation!

When I used to have the old original Tivo, if an update was on your Tivo waiting to be installed at 2am it would say in system info " Update Pending" , you would know that your Tivo would be updated then.

Will something like this happen on Virgin's Tivo?

But default padding is also not as bad as others are making it to be and in fact is what I want. I manually set padding on every series link set up effectively reflecting what will be default now.

Works fine for me except for 2 points (a) overlap of 3 recordings of 1 at 8-9 and 2 at 9-10pm means 3 tuners used during overlap so stops me watching live TV on other channels – clipping needs to happen to drop padding on back to back programmes like V+, (b) default includes 10 episodes but I have 1TB box and if a series is more than 10 episodes and I record them all before watching, I will lose recoded episodes to the deleted folder.

So not perfect agree but padding is a basic need to make sure you capture a programme, the issues above need to be address not padding set by default, although I also think Tivo needs to allow you to set those default values not the box.
