Of course it works fine. So, to be clear, your claim of the V6 box "technology" being unable to support "the tech in the app" was just obfuscation...

As I said, I only got Now to view Sky Atlantic. Now their programmes get shown on Sky Showcase, there’s no point, is there?
I'm sure everyone quitting a streaming service has their own justification for doing so. Otherwise they wouldn't be quitting, would they?

Especially the UK Original programming which makes the channel look pointless once HBO Max launches, that's if still exists...

My guess, based on the above, is that Sky Atlantic closes. It's about to lose new HBO content and some of its archive shows have recently been made available on Sky Showcase. It'll be pitched as merging into Sky Max, to become one channel with the best of the HBO archive shows and the best of Sky Max. This new supercharged Sky Max then rebrands back to Sky One.

Sky Nature could also be set for closure, as it was recently moved below Challenge on the Sky EPG.

Re: Virgin TV (2025)

another rumour is sky comedy is going to close because the office (its best performing show outside the stuff they're losing) is going to move over to sky max.

the thing is i dont understand what the names mean

sky max- its the best shows? the maximum shows? otherwise i dont know what it means? the max brand is warner as well isn't it?
sky showcase- showcasing the new stuff?
sky Atlantic- showcasing american stuff because of the reference to the Atlantic ocean but there is american stuff on every sky channel?

its confusing. i'd rather they just went back to sky one as the main channel, kept sky comedy and if they really needed a third channel give it a name with some meaning

Sky Sports Racing's red button greyhound channel is closing on Sky this Monday. Assuming it closes on Virgin too, that must be a record for shortest-lived service on VM?!

Twisting my words again? You can’t help yourself, can you?

And I’m not sure what you are getting at with your second comment. I think you need help, old chap.

More of a "direct quote" rather than "twisting"…

Sometimes at least new apps don’t appear on old boxes simply because the technology can’t support the tech used in that app. However, it is also fair to say that it can be a deliberate encouragement for viewers to update their boxes.

Exactly, he simply can't resist the temptation to obfuscate.

You gave your reason for quitting a streaming service. I merely indicated that other people quitting streaming services will also have their reasons. Nevertheless, they and you have still left. It is still quitting a streaming service however you try to "frame" it.

Virgin have, oddly, not removed the placeholder (to preserve recordings) for "Create & Craft". It remains long after such things are usually removed. Maybe Virgin are expecting a second coming. Or would that be third?... or maybe fourth? Who knows?

The only solid plan for new services right now seems to be HBO Max launching in the UK. Although some of the broadcasting organisations may be reorganising and/or renaming some of their channels in the not too distant future.

Except I was talking about old boxes. I know the V6 works well, I have one myself.

All quiet my friend apart from the annual movie channels name change great romance is becoming great Christmas and great movies becoming great mystery.
No doubt movies24 will become Christmas24 very soon and one of Sky cinema channels will change to Sky cinema Christmas.

You were trying to make a point, but you have failed spectacularly. I have left NOW because the stuff Sky is pushing out is rubbish these days. I took Now to get HBO shows on Sky Atlantic, which Virgin doesn’t support. In future, these shows will be on HBO Max, which is what I will be subscribing to in the New Year.

The insinuation lying behind your post is that I quit a streaming service in favour of a live TV channel. Why would I do that when all my viewing is time shifted, almost exclusively now on demand?

You can understand the confusion, as the post just before yours, which you appeared to be replying to, specifically mentioned the V6…

There is rumours that ad supported HBOMax will be included with SKY stream/Q.
Now is rumoured to be getting a light version included in the entertainment pass too.

Re: Virgin TV (2025)

That was confirmed in the press release last December
https://corporate.comcast.com/press/...xfinity-sky-uk

Around the same time Sky Essential TV was launched on Sky Stream/Glass , Sky Atlantic is the only entertainment Sky pay channel in it with all others in Sky Ultimate TV...

No doubt HBO Max will be available as a subscription add option on Prime aswell, was added as option to Prime in Australia today.
