Yes, but the full-fat version is peppered with unskippable commercials, so that is a big no-no for me.

It's the same for some of the other services like ITV Hub and My5 which aren't actually available as a proper app on Virgin Media, just a selection of shows in Catch Up from the last week. It's a surprise that they haven't been caught for false advertising.

Easy way around that turn off ad blocker until programme starts then turn ad blocker back on and bingo it tricks the site into thinking no ad blocker is running and the show plays advert free.(web browser only)

ITV Hub and Channel 5 have 7 day catch up content as you say, but ITV box sets are available on demand with the ITV Collections branding rather than ITV Hub. Channel 5's on demand content is somewhat lacking.

That's right. As I recall it, the catch up services with their 7 day window for playback were in place before the more comprehensive services available through the internet, on Smart TVs, Roku, etc, so no false advertising there. I think it is good that Virgin offer a 'no ads during programmes' option.

I've always viewed the ITV Collections as being our substitute for ITV Encore!

I guess it's up to Channel 5 what content they put on, but there's not much I ever watch on that channel anyway.

There definitely is false advertising. They just haven't got in trouble for it.

VM's website specifically states that their TV service includes the ITV Hub and All 4 apps, but it does not. Simple as that.

Well, it does, actually, SM. Just not the latest incarnations of them, and I think it's the same for Sky. I repeat, catch up services were on TV before the internet versions arrived.

There is a clear choice here. The full version with unskippable commercials, and the version that has less content but no ads interrupting the programmes.

Both versions have their attractions. Personally, I prefer the version that is not peppered with advertisements. Incidentally, it was not Virgin Media who named them, it was the TV companies!

Quite a lot of Catch up on Sky is 30 days.

Sky Cinema has confirmed that Sky Cinema Sci-Fi and Horror will become Sky Cinema Monsters from Monday.

Until the end of March.

Also Motors TV has become Motorsport.tv HD.

No, it doesn't, actually, OB.

The apps are specific services with their own user interface and a full range of content, available on lots of devices including Smart TVs, set top boxes, games consoles, phones and tablets etc. BBC iPlayer on VM is one of these.

ITV Hub, All 4 and Channel 5 on VM are nothing more than the standard 7 days of Catch Up included in VM's own system. That is not the same.

Completely different things, that have some content in common, not different versions of the same thing!

Still showing as Motors TV on my TiVo with no extra HD variant.

Edit: Apparently, on Sky it is showing a loop stating that it changed name and went HD today- in SD!

Bloomberg HD started today on satellite, wonder if this will come to VM?

Well, I'm not going to argue about the apps and VM service being different because clearly, they are. But the main point I was making is that it was the broadcasting companies that named them, not Virgin Media.

I know that the Sky, Fox and other pay tv channels are 30 days, but is that also the case for the ITV Hub, All4 and My 5 services?

Its a bit disappointing one can only get 7 days with ITV compared to BBC's iPlayer.

I think the difference is that the BBC does not have revenue from advertising factored into what they can and can't do, Den.
